Taking the test earlier

In my sophomore year, I took the SATs 3 times and got pretty good scores. 2320 highest single and 2400 superscore. However, they weren't 2400 single sitting good. Do the admissions people see that I took the SAT sophomore year and cut me some slack? I don't want to take any more because certain schools require you to send all scores...I don't want to look like any more of a tryhard than I am now.

Come onnnnn help me

You have a 2320 single sitting and 2400 superscore. You don’t NEED any “slack”.

they honestly hate try-hards, don’t take it again. It just makes you look desperate once you’ve taken it 4 times

I know not to take it again. I’ve heard 3 times is basically the limit.

I didn’t ask whether or not I need slack. I asked if it would give me a boost, as in if you guys know if they can see what year I took it and think, “oh, ok, that’s sort of impressive, I guess” and potentially help me.

Not really. If your referring to colleges on HYPSM tier, they’ll probably be like, “oh look, a perfect score. Check. Next part.” Even if you did take it a year earlier than usual, its not something that makes you stand out of the crowd and will probably get viewed as the other perfect scores. In fact, if you got a 2320 on your first test (unless your distribution is 800/800/720), the colleges may think, “hey, another score-obsessed kid.” They see too many high scoring applicants that it really doesn’t matter much within the 2300-2400.

Lol that’s exactly what my 2320 was, i got a 720 in writing

Agree with all of the above. Ignoring 2400 superscore, a 2320 single sitting is already stellar. Congrats.

p.s. Your response to baileyj57 in post #5 was a bit condescending considering he/she answered the gist of your question anyway. You’re smart enough to get a 2320 as a sophomore so you should be smart enough to realize that you asking whether or not you get “a boost” because you took it earlier than usual is a rather arrogant/detestable question in and of itself. Apologies for ranting, but just please be appreciative that people are taking time to give you their feedback.
