Would that be possible if I studied nothing about US history before but have only got a very rough knowledge and basic facts? Would it be adequate if I read through a Kaplan once or twice?

Lol that’s what I’m doing, just read all of Kaplan, then take a practice test. Based on that make a decision on what your next step should be.

LOL…no prior knowledge/courses about us history? dont expect above a 700…

It’s possible. Take practice tests by Kaplan, and get the College Board’s official subject test book and official us and world history study guide. The former has previously administered subject tests of all subjects (including us history) and the latter has two previously administered us history tests.

For learning us history, I suggest getting AMSCO :[Amazon.com: United States History: Preparing for the Advanced Placement Examination (9781567656602): John J. Newman, John M. Schmalbach: Books](http://www.amazon.com/United-States-History-Preparing-Examination/dp/1567656609/ref=pd_sim_b15)

Or the American Pageant. http://www.amazon.com/American-Pageant-AP-Ed-14e/dp/0547166621/ref=sr_1_6?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1317931006&sr=1-6

For additional prep, check out Barron’s or Princeton Review’s AP US History cards, and Direct hits US History.

if you haven’t studied anything, you might be in trouble…i would suggest going through a few prep books, and when you’re crunched for time use rea’s crash course (try to use books other than this if you have time though)- it’s technically for the ap but it does a great job of running through the basic facts, you can just make a quizlet (great site if you don’t know it) set for all the terms you don’t know and it should help a lot- that’s a big part of how i studied for the ap and the sat last year.
