Dear CC community,

I have been accepted to the following schools. I want a Comp Sci program that will prepare me for a career in business/entrepreneurship. Id like a well regarded program where I will be surrounded by smart, serious students and will have a start up mentality where I can participate in a multitude of programs. I want a school that supports the students and has a we can do that attitude. Please comment/rank my list below.

Carnegie Mellon Priority Waitlist
UC Berkeley Spring admit
U Wash direct admit
U Southern California
UCSD
UCLA waitlist

Other schools not my top picks
UM College Park (Biz school, can double major)
SMU Lyle
ASU Barrett Honors
Case Western
Harvey Mudd waitlist

Thanks all!

Net price at each school?

Very early stage startups might not pay that well, or you may be doing some entrepreneurial work without pay before starting or joining an actual company, so having a lot of debt may limit your options. I.e. if you have a lot of debt, you may be forced to take chase the highest pay level in a regular job, even if there is something else with lesser or uncertain pay levels for now that you would rather do.

Cost isn’t too much of a factor - my parents have told me to go where I feel is a best choice - they are taking care of the finance side of things. (Thanks mom!)

They know the prices and have assured you that they can cover the entire cost? It would not be a good thing to run out of money midway through college…

Assuming that the waitlists turn into rejections, the likely top choices are Washington (if you are directly admitted to the CS major) and Berkeley. Is either significantly cheaper than the other (be nice to your parents), and would you rather work in the Seattle area or Silicon Valley (even top schools have some regional recruiting bias)?
