Talking to the Advisor

Tomorrow I head out to register for classes, campus tour, everything. What should I expect from talking to the advisor, and what questions should I ask?

Thanks

i'm not really sure, but good luck. i never once spoke with my advisor on what classes to take. i had the man for like 6 classes though.. i don't know if he ever even realized he was my advisor :P

dont they just block register? if not fight and dont take remiedial classes thats just the schools way of getting money from you.

Unfortunately they usually have to sign off. I would think someone at college would be bright enough to schedule their own classes. Honestly, it was easier to sign up in HS even if our choices were more limited.

MacTech, it really depends on the college you go to. Here, you just get a password from your advisor and then everything else is up to you.

Advice: scout out the classes you want to take ahead of time and, if the information is available, how full the classes are so far (at my school, that info is available on the registrar's website) and be armed with that information when you first meet your advisor. Also, if you know what your major is going to be, look up the requirements for that.

My school has like 27K students so they must block register students. almost everything is full on the firsy day of registration.

so at most schools...if you take a placement test and get a low score...will you HAVE to take the remedial course or can you just opt to take a regular course and hope for the best? I'm gonna be super pi$$ed if I have to take remedial math because that's my weak point
