TAMS Admissions Chances

Hello,

I live in Texas and I was wondering if someone could evaluate my chances. I don’t have the best grades (I’m not top 10 percent but upward increasing) and not many awards but I have good extracurriculars (I believe) and a decent SAT practice tests.

Grades:

  • 8th grade:
    • Honors Algebra 1: 92 93
    • Spanish 1: 84 86
  • 9th grade: COVID YEAR (which was a tougher for me since I have attention disorders in virtual)
    • Honors Geometry: 94 92
    • Honors English: 90 88
    • Honors Biology: 87 89
    • World Geography: 96 93
    • Spanish 2: 87 99
    • Debate 1: 99 94
    • Computer Science: 100 100
    • Health and Professional Communications: 92 100

10th grade (so far): Second semester is projected

  • Honors Pre-Calculus: 94 94
  • Honors Chemistry: 96 99
  • AP World History: 89 96
  • Honors English: 91 96
  • AP Computer Science: 97 99
  • Honors Spanish III: 96 96
  • Art 1: 96 100
  • Introduction to Engineering: 92 96

SAT: don’t have one yet but planning on taking in May; have 1500+ practice test scores

The Blakeman Chess Tournament is not counted. Sorry.

You definitely have the stats to get into A&M. Getting into the computer science program isn’t guaranteed, so make sure you have some backup schools in mind.

Sorry for the misconception. I was talking about the Texas Academy of Math and Science. Probably should have specified that.

I think posting in the Prep School Chances is sufficiently clear.

Well, that and TAMS is not TA&M.

No insight. But not being in the top 10% probably makes it a little more challenging.

Good luck!
