TAMS info update form necessary if info correct??? and Finanical Aid Question

Hey guys!

My info on TAMS is correct, so should I submit the "update info form"? I would think not, but then I remember something to do with this form and interviews and such?

And then, about Financial Aid. I've heard it is better to not apply for aid, so I'll more likely to get in. (true??) But then, I feel like, hey I don't want to be in debt forever. And, does Tufts offer merit scholarships? (Although, who knows if I'll even get in :) )

Thanks !

I'll answer your first question: If you make no changes and hit submit, the page that shows up says just that: you didn't make any changes. So you really don't have to.

I honestly don't know the answer for your second question, but I should assume that Tufts doesn't discriminate on the basis of your need. Even so, if that were true, then what would be the point of even having a financial aid office?

Thanks.

Well, for schools that guarantee aid, if it comes down to a person who needs aid and who doesn't (their applications are equally strong) then they would pick the person who doesn't need aid, right? So that the school got money . .

So I guess that depends on if the school guarantees aid. I think I thought Tufts did, but I could very easily be wrong.

Yeah, Tufts guarantees to meet all demonstrated financial aid, but they are NOT need-blind. This means that if you get in, they will give you as much money as you (theoretically) need, but that the admissions office will also be aware of your aid request. They don't give merit aid either.
I would think that being need-aware in admissions means that requesting aid could negatively affect your chances of being admitted.

I think that I don't count for need based aid anyway, so I'll just not request it.

Thanks! That was very helpful!
