I’m a freshman at SFA, gpa ~3.6, 16 credit hours. My major is IT. What are my chances for getting in?
Odds are not in your favor. Computer Science is a very popular major and there are a lot of students competing for a handful of spots each semester. CS has a cap on the number of seats. Transfer students have the least priority for admissions. First priority are the sophomores and freshmen applying to a major (a process called ETAM) from general engineering. Second priority is change of majors within the college. And if there is a spot left, they look at all of the transfer students. In reading the transfer thread, there seemed to be 5 CS spots for spring. Some years in some majors, there have been zero openings.
16 credit hours is not enough. The major requires at minimum, 24. It also depends on what those hours are in. Here is the Transfer Course Sheet for CS. http://admissions.tamu.edu/admissions-staging/media/Main/pdfs-transfer2018/ENG18-ComputerSci.pdf
