TAMU on-campus housing

Hey guys, I am an aspiring aggie, my major is general engineering( comp sci path ). I was wondering what the best on campus residence halls would be? ( In terms of population, college proximity and basic amenities ). Which dorms are better for freshmen: the common halls or the hullabaloo halls? Or would it be better to look for an apartment nearby?

@AggieWithoutAid

All dorms are on campus so therefore have close college proximity. Most of the dorms are inhabited by freshman and the majority move off campus after freshman year. The Commons is made up of four buildings and the Engineering Living Learning Community is in the Commons. Not every Engineer elects to live in the Commons. However, if you choose to live in the LLC, you are more likely to get your choice of dorm. Hullabaloo is one building and depending on when you were accepted into the university and when you applied for housing, will have a HUGE effect on Hullabaloo being remotely a likely option.

That also goes for any dorm. The further down the list you are on housing: Priority, Guaranteed, Temporary and wait list, the more likely you will be assigned a room rather than select one. There are a ton of apartments in college station within walking/biking distance and others on a bus route. Too many to go into on this forum so, you have your homework cut out for you.

Here is a great link for you to explore and research all of the different types of dorms, their costs, their size. etc

It doesn’t matter where you reside. Your freshman classes will be all over the campus anyway in most cases and you will spend a lot of time walking or taking a bus to and fro.

Thanks a lot! Youve been a great help! @Thelma2
