Tansfers??

Hi!

I applied to Bard last year through IDP and got in, but went somewhere else. I’m not that happy here and am considering a transfer, and one of the school’s I’m considering is Bard.

Are there any transfer students out there who could tell me what it’s like to come in as a transfer student? Are people welcoming? Was it easy to make friends even though you weren’t there freshman year? What were some of the pro/cons of Bard versus your previous school?

Also, I’m slightly worried that my grades in college won’t be good enough to get in since I’m at a difficult school. Though I don’t really know how I’m doing yet since it’s not that far into the semester. But will the fact that I was already previously accepted matter or will they not care?

Thanks!

At Accepted Students Day last April, Leon Botstein was asked that ? by someone on the fence between 2 schools and he replied that they wouldn't be interested. He said that if a student felt they had not chosen the right school and were unhappy, Bard would figure they were a bad risk (I'm paraphrasing). He said that it was like 'shopping around' and they were unlikely to be happy wherever they went. There are exceptions to every rule, and if you made a good enough case, you could I'm sure get some consideration. Transfer admission rate is pretty low though so you'd need a strong argument for why you belong there.
