Taos Co-op A Mom's Take

So, Taos is not glamorous. If living somewhere posh is a necessity, well, this isn't going to be for you. If you are needing affordable college housing and don't mind living in a community where everyone does a little work (4-6 hours of labor) each week to keep everyone fed, the place maintained, etc, then definitely check this out!

My son has met some great folks from all over the world. Taos attracts international students as well as students from all over the USA. From what I have observed, this is a community of smart, down to earth folks. My son says a lot of STEM (science, tech, engineering, math) majors live there (great if you are needing help with your studies)...

Yes, there is a sub-basement where there are parties and a fair amount of goofing off. My son has his own room and shares a bathroom with a guy who also has a single room. I believe his room and board was $715/month last year (yep for his own room and a kitchen with 24 hr access).

Parents: it is a little old and funky but the food prep area is clean. No worries!
