Has anyone had any experience with the Taos co op? It looks like I'm going to be living there (IF my contract processes in time...)

Is it fun? Clean? What are the rooms like?

I just got my contract for a single room for Taos. Did you apply for a single or double room?

I don’t know about Taos but I applied for Halstead and went on a tour last weekend. The place looks very nice. However, I’m still at number #2 on their waiting list for a double room, not really sure will I ever get the room.

My son liked Taos, although he wasn’t there very long (he had to withdraw from school for medical reasons).

@EIJohn I had applied for a single- however my roommate came through and I just signed a contract for a student apartment in North Campus.

@Foafoa Oh no!! Do students eventually get off the waitlist or you do you have to look for other options?

Question - Is there anyway that a spring transfer could get in at a co-op? If so, when should I apply and if not, when can I apply for the next Fall? I’m really interested in Arrakis though ICC.

@lovechickfila I also applied to ICC and received a contract but I didn’t sign it because they required like $800 upfront at the time of signing. I want to live in Halstead and have saved money to pay for the whole year at once so I really can’t spend that much for a security option. Honestly this is the first time I look for housing, thus I really have no clue.

foafoa - the $800 wasn’t all security. Some is refundable and some the partial payment of the last month’s rent. Didn’t they send you a break down of what the money was for?

Yeah they did and I do understand it. However, ICC is still my second option and $800 is a lot of money to me. And say if I pay the $800 to make sure that I will have room for the year, then when I got offered a contract from Halstead, I may not gather enough money to pay for the whole school year (in order to get their 5% off).

@putabirdonit Just check their website. They’re open for new application at anytime as long as there are room available.

Their website says they’re full for the upcoming Fall, so I’m sort of wondering when I should look to apply or if they keep applications on file for the future maybe?
