Did all the rejected students get this e-mail? Is it worth it?

Berkeley’s TAP program is one of community college’s best kept secrets. Only a VERY limited amount of students who initially get rejected from Berkeley are contacted by the Berkeley TAP program & it’s invitation-only based on low-income, first generation, minority status.

If you choose to attend a community college in hopes of transferring to Berkeley as a junior, the TAP program can greatly boost your chances of acceptance. Through personal statement workshops, individual UC application review and counseling, TAP students have had a stellar acceptance rate (always above 80%).

TAP does not really help if you want to major outside of the College of Letter’s and Science. If you want to transfer into HAAS business, for example, TAP won’t really help you all that much.

^the above post is pretty informative. If you don’t mind attending a CC b/c of prestige or w/e, I think you should definitely give that a shot. A.) It’s cheaper… B.) boosts your chance of transferring to Berkeley.

If you don’t want to risk it or simply have another school in mind already, then don’t worry about the invitation!

Would it be better than attending UCLA now?

Yes.

California community college students have priority over UC students when it comes to junior standing transfer.

I would just go to UCLA instead.
