<p>I'm looking to transfer to TAMU for petroleum engineering. However, the state school I'm currently attending in MA doesn't offer any engineering-related classes and I've only thus far accumulated 15 credits (and would prefer not to waste more time here!). Would it be possible to transfer to one of the TAP-affiliated schools from my current institution and then be guaranteed admittance to TAMU next year (assuming I'll fulfill all the requirements), or does TAP only apply to in-state students?</p>

If I were you, I would transfer to Blinn in Bryan TX. You will get the feel of being in Aggieland while fufilling the TAP agreement of 24 credit hours. Blinn is easy to be admitted into, you might be able to transfer for spring '12 if you are interested. Or start with summer '12 and be ready to transfer to A&M this time next year.</p>
<p>Thanks for the helpful response! I’ve read that Blinn, as you said, is the closest of the TAP-affiliated schools to A&M. However, would one of the others be better to start me off toward a PetE degree, or is Blinn still my best bet even after factoring that in?</p>

<p>In my opinion, Blinn would be your best choice. Even some of the professors teach at both schools. Blinn has the highest transfer rate to A&M, Blinn knows what it takes to transfer to A&M, and Blinn will give you the Aggie experience. I believe without a doubt, Blinn is your best option.<br>

they are all community colleges. Many of them are going to be commuter colleges with a lot of non traditional students. I just don’t see that being the best option for a young person</p>

<p>And I’m not sure about your transcript from your current institution. I don’t think it would factor into your admission at all if you go through the TAP program. Hopefully you are knocking out some basic courses that will transfer in.<br>
I would really call the prospective student center on campus and talk to them. They are your very best option for getting the best answers to all your questions.<br>

<p>And you can see A&M from Blinn campus. I think it is less than 4 miles. There is a shuttle bus that goes from main campus to Blinn for students on Blinn Team. A&M students take courses & mini semesters at Blinn - Blinn is just a part of life in Aggieland</p>

From what you’ve said (and what I’ve read), Blinn definitely seems like a great choice considering its integration with A&M. However, I do have one more minor concern (and if you’re unsure about this, I’ll just ask the prospective students office when I call tomorrow): housing at Blinn is evidently only available at their Brenham campus. Their website claims that those who attend Bryan campus should “refer to the TAMU student life website” regarding “housing within the Bryan/College Station area”. I’m assuming that this basically means paying out-of-pocket for an apartment in the area, as opposed to being able to use financial aid, etc., toward housing. Any idea?</p>

there are 3 off campus dorms you can look into. Traditions, Callaway House, Cambridge. They all have meal plans. If your financial aid is not used, it is refunded to you and you can then apply it to your housing. My daughter lived in Callaway House her first year at A&M. There are plenty of Blinn kids in each of these off campus dorms, and they can catch a shuttle bus to Blinn.

<p>I called the Arlington - Prospective Student Center on 1-5-12, the worker asked couple questions (GPA, Classes took), but he said something about he don’t know the status of TAP if it was still going to be incorporated for students transferring. He told me to check back after Feb. 1st and they should know something.</p>
<p>I’m taking Cal I, Phys I, & Chem II this Spring 2012 semester. I would only need Cal II and Phys II to complete the BOLDED classes and satisfy the 3.0 GPA minimum. I have 41 Credits and 3.49 GPA.</p>
