Tap?

I noticed that TAP gives "Priority" for transfer students in top UC's. They also make you take a certain amount of honors classes, which is supposed to help in admissions.

What would you guys suggest to someone who wants to transfer as soon as they can to a top UC? Is it better to be in the honors and the TAP program, or is it better to just use the AP credits to fulfill the basic requirements then transfer? (assuming good grades). Does TAP really give a big push in admissions say in UCLA or Berkeley (although they don't participate in TAP) that it is worth it for someone to stay an extra semester or two at a CC?

you know there's a 10+ thread about this filled with subjective biast opinions right?

I suggest that if you want to be safe, complete TAP. Although it won't help for Berkeley, it will help enormously for UCLA. Here's a statistic almost 95% of TAP students at my cc get accepted.

Just take the honors classes in things you don't have AP credit for.

p.s. 89% acceptance to UCLA from my cc's tap program last year

yeah, sorry if its really repetitive, but I just wanted feedback on the specific situation (for me its either graduate early or TAP). If TAP helps so much that it helps alot in admissions, then i might consider it

99% admittance rate for TAP at my school. Only reason for rejection is because the few rejected applicants falsified information.

its just taht all the honors classes for my pre-req there's no honors or i took it as AP. I can take only maybe 2 courses in honors (in order to graduate in 1 year). If i have to take like the 6 courses or whatever credits that equals to, i will have to stay another year

what school do u go to xleper?

xleper: How did they falsify information?

why don't you try both? you don't have to "graduate"; you just leave.

the transfer office is technically not allowed to say. she just heavily stressed the importance of not exaggerating information (such as community service, financial situation, etc, i'm only guessing) and to submit all your grades, including those of the classes you repeated. Ex: say you got a D in one class, repeated it and got an A. Still submit the D.

mattn: you mean i apply as TAP and then leave before i take the 6 honors classes? Can you explain that? Sounds interesting, but one of the eligibility req for TAP transferring is that i must have certification from the honors program. So won't i not be qualified to apply?

I mean you could apply as though you were going to leave in one year (with your APs), and if you get rejected, try again with TAP

As far as there not being enough classes, you might want to check nearby community colleges. Sometimes there are a few fairly close together.

ohhh ic, thanks for the input mattn

Doing the honors program at your school will most likely help you with your admissions to Berkeley. http://www.cerritos.edu/shp/tainfo.htm The third bullet says that Berkeley now considers your honors coursework a factor in your admissions. I posted something about this awhile back and I found another piece of evidence from Berkeley that said they take honors coursework into consideration.

ah
maybe thats why the 3.56 with TAP got into berk
honors were took into consideration
damn
