<p>You need to check with the colleges to which you are applying. Some are very specific in that they do NOT accept or review any supplementary information that is sent (this would include tapes, portfolios, extra references etc). Also, you need to find out to whom to send this tape. DD has done this and has been advised in some cases that these things are only reviewed by the music department faculty for consideration for their programs and NOT as part of admissions. It really varies so call the admissions offices where you plan to apply.</p>

Actually, DD will probably be declaring chem as her major. As a child, piano came easy to her...and it evolved over time. It shows interest and commitment outside of academics.</p>
