I was wondering if anyone had any experience with sending in taped auditions with an accompanying phone interview. My D originally selected Muhlenberg per everyone’s suggestion of adding a “non-audition” BA program to her list. After doing so, we were given strong advice to audition if she was seriously interested in attending. Unfortunately they only have 3 audition dates, all of which conflict with something else. Should she send in a tape or should it be taken off the list. (Her application is already completed and ready to submit.) Any advice would be appreciated.

Unless something has changed, you may have inadvertantly confused the scheduled dance audition dates with the theatre auditions. The layout of the website is a little confusing. Theatre auditions are usually by appointment from September through February and involve a "1 on 1" audition and interview with Charles Richter.

In addition, the most important interview to have is with the admissions office. That can be scheduled for the same date as the audition. When my daughter auditioned at Muhlenberg, she was strongly urged to schedule an interview with the admissions office - that's where the admissions decisions are made.

yes, this is an interesting topic, My daughter just this weekend narrowed down her safeties to Muhlenberg and Rollins, on some of the info provided by many here(was mainly a decision between Rollins and Goucher). I must admit I haven't perused every nook and cranny of the Muhlenberg website, as this weekend was used to focus mainly on the minutiae of D's BFA programs in narrowing them down to 10.

Guess I need to read up a bit more on the MB admission process.

My D did an on campus interview with admissions and met with Charlie Richter, and then sent in an audition dvd as we live too far away for her to go back for the audition date. She was awarded a talent scholarship on the basis of the audition tape, but I know that by going to campus to visit and showing genuine interest in the school helped in her being admitted.
