Tar Heel Hopeful needs help (long, sorry)

I applied regular decision at UNC-CH, but I'm getting anxious. Do I have a decent shot at getting in? It's my dream school, but I know it's very very competitive.

I go to large public school in Northern Virginia. My school is extremely competitive, (94-100 A 90-94 B+, only 4 or 5 kids above a 4.0 in my senior class of 600). but I've managed to get in the top 10%.

However, my family is military and we have official residence in NC, so I am technically an IN-STATE applicant.

Unweighted GPA: 3.7
Weighted GPA: 3.82

SAT I: Reading 710
Math 700
Writing 640

SAT II: Literature 700
Math 2 650
Math 1 690

5 in AP World History
4 in AP US History

Great teacher rec, I've had the same english teacher for three years and she's in love with me. I'd like to think that my two essays were killer as well, I spent an enormous amount of time on them.

Midyear grades were excellent, I took 4 APs (Calculus BC (A!), Chemistry (B+!), Literature (A), and Government (B :( )

My sister is a sophomore at UNC-CH in the honors program, so that helps. My mother also went there but transferred to william and mary after 2 years.

Extra Curriculars: Varsity Rowing. I rowed 10th-12th grade in varsity boats, was a boat captain all three years, and made team captain senior year. I also row in the offseason at local clubs.
I won the school science fair twice and I got honorable mention at regionals.
I'm in a few honor societies but I don't really do anything in them.

Do I have a good shot? I feel like I should, but I worry about how my GPA will hold up to NC schools. My freshman year was in NC and I made a 4.0, so hopefully they'll understand the drastic change in competition.

Thanks in advance for your time

I think you will get in. Are you definitely considered In-State? If so, I’m pretty positive you are in.

yeah- I had to fill out an extra long residency form, but they’ve told me that I’ll be paying in-state tuition.

wingzero-

Are you sure? I was in the same situation when I applied and know that UNC can consider you in-state for tuition purposes without considering you in-state for admissions purposes, and vice-versa.

Cuse- well you scared me, so I went and dug out my letter.

“A review of this applicatin indicats that you should be considered as a resident of this state for admission and tuition purposes. We will notify the appropriate University offices regarding your status.” phew!

If you are considered In state, then you definitely have a really good shot at getting admission.
