Target and Safety Schools

Hi, I’m a senior in high school and I’m just finishing up my college list. I plan on majoring in chemistry and my goal is to get my PhD and go into research and then eventually into post secondary teaching. I’m also considering Physics or Sociology as minors or one as a possible second major. I love the feel of a liberal arts school but I also like the universities I’ve toured. I’m looking for safety schools and target schools with a really diverse and accepting environment, with a focus on academics, but with a nice social scene as well.

GPA: 91.5/100 UW, ~108.6-109/100 W

I’ve taken mostly honors, UCONN ECE, and AP courses and earned mostly As and 6 Bs.

SAT: 1430 (750 EWRB) (680 MATH)

Extracurriculars:
Band (4 years)

Eastern Region Concert Band (1 year)

Student Council (4 years, President 2 years)
In student council I started an annual mental health week and redesigned my school’s holiday food drive

Health Sciences Club (2 years, Cofounder and CoPresident)

Class Secretary (2 years)

Sidetrax (literary magazine, 1 year)

I quit after my freshman year because there was no structure to the club and the members weren’t passionate about getting the magazine out.

Prom Committee (1 year, Director)

The colleges I’m considering are:

Reach
Bowdoin
Bates
Wellesley

Match
Fordham
Mt Holyoke
Union
???

Safety
UCONN
Clark
???

If you’d like, you can search “15 Best Value Small Colleges for a Chemistry Degree,” in which schools such as Colby, Union, Hamilton and Bowdoin, as well as some some less challenging admits, appear. Based on your stated criteria and academic record, Bates from your list would seem to make a suitable reach.
