What would you say should be a target GPA for an OOS student from a very good catholic high school? Right now I have about a 3.6 UW and 3.8 W (did pretty bad freshman year in 1 class) and a 28 ACT (June 10). I know I have to raise these, but what should I shoot for?

good stats for OOS are 3.9 and 2100/31 SAT/ACT.

I would say then for every .1 drop in uw gpa you need to increase the ACT score ~1.5 to 2 points. I got in with a 3.8 uw and 33 early action. You should also be taking difficult classes.

Thanks. With a lot of APs and honors classes can the UW be slightly lower?

Unweighted is all that matters. You need to have a 3.8+ unweighted to be competitive from OOS.

I had 3.5 uw & 2030 SAT and got in oos. Great essays can make up for average/slightly below average gpa and sat.

Thanks Jake! That’s reassuring.

I have a 3.8uw and a 2270 SAT and was differed from oos :(

^and there goes my bit of hope I regained lol. Although I’m sure you’ll get in soon.

colleges tend to be really weird with admissions sometimes. I got deferred from case western reserve university (70% acceptance rate, I applied there as a safety) but I ended up getting deferred, and accepted to UMich, Georgia Tech, University of Illinois, and University of Pittsburgh. oos for all of them. All those colleges have lower acceptance rates. not sure at all how that case western deferral happened.
@Flcollegeman - With those stats, I’m sure you’ll get in regular decision and you’ll have a many more colleges accepting you as well.

If you had a great essay, that would definitely improve your chances
