i will study abroad this fall at mcgill university (canada)

bu? wellesley? american? gw? (<--what are my chances for those?/what do you all recc. for transfers?)

is that old SAT? if it is, you should retake...if it's new SAT then you should REALLY retake. you're lucky you are indian american. i have some but not enough to call myself an indian american. that should really help you.

I'm not sure if you'll need to retake the SAT for Wellesley, but for BU and American, I wouldn't think it's necessary. Probably not for GW either, but I'm not sure.

i disagree BUs average SAT of entering freshman was around 1350 and I was under the impression that more is usually expected from transfers...i'd take again but it's up to you.

Colleges rarely expect more of you (in terms of SAT scores) when applying as a transfer. I got into BU as a junior transfer with SATs not much higher than secretsilver's.

In fact, most of the colleges I got into as a transfer had average SAT scores for freshmen in the 1300-1400 range, and I was no where near that.

I have a 3.95 from a third tier, public school. Easy courseload (mostly intro classes), but I made sure to get my General Ed. requirements out of the way. Not a whole lot in terms of ECs in college. Wrote for the school paper, volunteered a lot during the summer.

Well actually, I re-took my SATs last October. The first time I took them, as a senior in hs, my SATs were lower than yours (a 1020). On the new SAT I had M-520 CR-570 and W-600. So a little higher, not enough to make a difference, I believe. I ended up getting into BU, Brandeis, UMass, and UNC.
