TartanTRak and Temp Housing...

Have any incoming freshmen been able to get onto TartanTrak yet? I plan on am work study and need to start checking for jobs.

Also, my housing finally changed yesterday from Housing TBA to a Standard Double in Donner. Does this mean that my temp housing will be in a standard double in Donner, or is that my actual dorm? Also, do you think I will get any information about my roommate?

Give Housing a call to find out exactly what your situation is. As for TartanTrak, that's usually up at the start of the semester or very soon after. Don't worry though, there aren't that many jobs posted besides ones in Athletics yet. There are always plenty of jobs available on campus at the beginning of the semester.

Well I just got a email saying that my roommate and I in donner would be having a third :D (they gave a name .. I emailed him)

What room you at?

I didn't think they would do that - stick temp housing people in with random non-temp-housing people. That seems like a rather unfair move. I thought what they'd be doing is putting three temp housers in a double, or something like that.

Well, I suppose if you have a third person you can make him clean your room and bring you food and stuff in exchange for not stepping on him when he sleeps on the floor :D

Yeah beds will be interesting.

The email said "You will be charged a discounted rate for the time that you share your space with a temporary housing student"

Sounds like they'll give us about $50 back heh. The original letter made it sound like we'd stay for free, as it was an uncomfortable situation all around.

Guess not.

I just got an e-mail today that said me and two other temp housing students will be staying in Donner 112. Do temp housing students usually end up for permanent housing? (Apartments or dorms)

Yes. During the first few weeks of school, a lot of people move out of dorms and into Greek housing (or off-campus), and those spaces are used to get people out of temp housing. On the other hand, I know a few people who were in temp housing for a good month and a half before they got out. It all depends on how many spaces open up, and there's no good way to predict that.

Just a side note about tartantrak, apparently they're dumping monster.com & replacing it with a new system that won't be up until August 25th or so. So don't worry about not being able to access the old one, CMU has stopped posting new jobs there.

Temp housing...

Donner 203, w00t...

kinda...

...

Is there anyone on temp that isnt in Donner, or is it just the ... it looks like?

My son arrived in Morewood Thursday. He said one of the lounge areas was converted for 5 people.

yeah i'm in that lounge right now lol
