TA's at Dartmouth?

I was under the impression that NO TA's teach at Dartmouth and are only there with a professor to help supplement the material. Yet, I've heard that some TA's teach some classes at Dartmouth. So can someone explain to me the role of TAs at Dartmouth?

TAs don’t teach.

TAs are there mainly to help you with any problems you might have in the class (HW, Labs, etc), or as an additional aid besides the professor’s office hours. They might do some (or nearly all) of the grading, but it will be in conjunction with the professor.

TAs will run your lab sections for the most part (except in really small classes or classes w/o a TA). A lot of TAs are undergrads who have taken the class previously; otherwise, TAs are grad students within the department.

Rightnotleft is correct–they’re there as support, and do extra office hours or lead lab sections, but don’t do any teaching. The only exception to this is in the Mathematics department, where they do some teaching of upper-level courses, a practice which dates back to the time of John Kemeny.

The language drill instructors are students. Although not precisely TAs in the traditional sense, I guess.
