Tasp 2007

Yay for Cornell II! :)

Hm. I was just thinking, isn't it funny-obsessive-ish that the first thing I do after I get home from school is to check CC? haha.

Hm...maybe a little?...

Would any past TASPers like to read my essays? I submitted them on the 22nd. I'm looking for reassurance. You don't have to critique heavily or at all, just tell whether you like them and your impression. Any takers can respond through this thread or pm.

Thanks,
Pj

Private_Joker does ur acct name have anything to do with Full Metal Jacket?

Great film btw

daenerys: Don't worry, I just did the exact same thing :p

2007th post on the thread for TASP applications 2007 WHOOOOO!

Yes, directorscut, it is.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?p=2146507#post2146507

yay for cornell II and washu! but whatever happened to umich?

it feels so weird to come home and not have essays to worry about. i saved them all on one folder and hid it somewhere in one of my dad's folder's so i won't be tempted to look at them again. xD

I, too, would like someone to read my essays -- preferably someone who has either gone to TASP or already submitted his/her application. I haven't submitted my application yet (e-submission <3) so I have a grand total of 2 days to fix things. However, if you actually wish to read it after I submit, that'll work too. Oh, yeah. This is based on a purely trust-basis, and I'd really appreciate it if no one lies and/or takes my work. =] Kay?

PM me.

You're tempted to read your essays again roamorse?? I am so sick to death of rereading my writing. I'm SO glad I don't have to proofread it for the 947th time anymore...

i was so tired at the end that i couldn't bear to read them once more, just because i kept finding places where i wanted to change/fix/take out. i know that if i look at them now i'll just feel dissatisfied and annoyed. so i'm vowing not to read them anymore. =)

Private_Joker, i just read you link. I'm sorry to say, but I think that you are wrong.

Private Joker fails at the end. He does not evolve, but rather deevolves (if that word exists). You can see this in Kubrick's 3 act structure.

Boot Camp - Joker is a joker. His wit is the most prominent part of his INDIVIDUALITY. He seeks to be different. There is that scene where he chooses to be a journalist. The drill instructor tells him he is a soldier.

-First Prostitute Interlude-

Vietnam - The duality of man. Joker tries to balance his individuality (peace sign) with the nature of the war around him (Born To Kill)

-Second Prostitute Interlude-

The Sniper - Joker is a killer (note that this is the only time he kills anyone, the only act where there is no presence of him being a journalist). He kills out of both instinct/nature and out of reason/logic. He is the soldier his drill instructor wanted him to become. Note how the peace sign is only visible once during this act. In that scene, Joker covers it with his arm as he turns to shoot the sniper.

There is no duality of man. The "private" of private joker wins.

Of course, this is just my interpretation. The great thing about film is that anything can be communicated in any number of ways.

Roam:: I read/replied to your essays!!! Wheeee!!! Super great!!

Man, oh man. I'm looking over my essays (already submitted the app). I've already found a handful of errors.

I'm probably not even getting an interview. =[

(Oh, and for that list thingy, my top choice is UT Austin).

Damn.

Haha, at least most of you guys are done. I have 3/4 of my critanal left, still need a deep conclusion to my conflict essay, and I haven't touched my rankings. (plus 2 subject tests saturday morning). This week blows lol.

hahaha I am sooo glad my app is in already.

But if it makes you guys feel any better, I had a really difficult math test today :D

Anybody want to read my essays? This will probably rub salt in my ignorant wounds, but hey, what the hell.

I'll read yours too! =D

Iriseyes - Doth thou hath AIM? I feel like avoiding studying.

Official offer:: (take it before I regret/retract it!)

If anyone wants to exchange essays (not for proofing!) PM me about it. Don't expect me to edit for grammar, spelling, structure, etc. Because I won't!
