Tasp 2007

Have you submitted yours yet?

Yep. Actually, my application just got there today. (Thank you, Priority Mail!) LOL

But, if you guys all want to wait until Saturday, it's understandable!

Wow the essay orgy has come full circle. All I (we) have worked so hard against has finally gotten us. :-P

Corey is still sore from his third day of lacrosse :-(

Track starts Mondayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy :(

soccer started 2 months ago :(

Omg, comisar you do track?

Sweet me too! But I'm only just turning in my sign up forms on Monday. Ha. Pre-season should be interesting since I've done minimal running since last season.

I feel for ya Corey. I'll be feeling your pain all too soon when I discover just how out of shape I am.

Ha, enjoy pre-season. I remember when I used to swim (now I'm regretting not doing it anymore; anecdote alert: when I was 12, I would make zones in events the first time I swam them. However, I hated practice. So bleh.) seriously I would be out of shape all summer (club kids not allowed to swim for pool teams in my area) and die once the leaves turned.

Well, I've decided not to stress about this anymore. Considering that CCers made up 20% of last year's TASPs, I feel confidant that at least 1/4 of the people on our (increasingly long) list will get in.

hey, my messages got buried under the mess of other posts :)

for rankings, do you justify EACH of the 5 rankings? do i insult my last choices?
and
I'll read someone's essays if they'd like? Or, does anyone have a copy of a critnal that got in in years past? (i just want to see what kind of structure they're looking for...) AIM:Zachsta830

Around many people get into TASP total?

I'm also curious about the rejection process... although I'm not sure who on CC would notice this on the TASP thread, like "oh yeah, the program I was rejected from, I really will read all 140 pages of the thread".

iriseyes - 25% chance is a lot more comforting than less than 10% chance, so good point. ^_^

Yeah what are the accept/reject statistics?

who has not applied yet online?

apparently it's around 10 percent or so

lol.

Zachsta i don't get what you mean..... Write your response and it should be personal. "saying science is boring UTA sucks" isn't really what they are looking for. This essay besides getting to know your first choice it is a chance for them to see your response to 5 completely different things and it gives a chance to show more of your personality and self in a semi-candid way. So I wouldn't as much be judging the essays as much as talking about them, because we all will have different personalities but when it come to opinions its either "yes" or "no".

i really should be working on TASP essays, but i've just been playing this game instead - http://uploads.ungrounded.net/content.php?id=360724&name=360724_pandemic.swf&title=Pandemic&date=1169701200&quality=b&uj=0&w=750&h=475

i'm not a sick person or anything (pun kind of intended). it's actually entertaining/challenging.

Well GOSH, didn't you guys read the brochure? haha it said about 900 apply, 150-180 get interviews, and 86 are finally selected. Or something like that.

And yes hawk, I do track... but it's sad because it's SO much less fun than cross country.

Oh, and Zachsta, you don't really have to say much about the seminars you aren't interested in. Just say that your interests lie in fields other than science, so you would not be interested in attending UT. Or whatever.

I like all the topics. Cornell I owns your face though.

I like all the topics too! I would feel hopelessly clueless in a couple of them, but nevertheless it would be so interesting to attend.

Application

Submitted

Successfully.

phew. see y'all in midmarch.

and, oh yeah: zachsta, do you do forensics? i think i saw you on the forensicsonline.net forums...

GOOD JOB!! Yay.
