Tasp 2007

i applied to the governor school of the arts (like taggart), but i doubt i'll get in. and tasp > governor's school.

mm...I received an app for RSI, so I might apply to that, maybe? And I also got something about Harvard SSP, so I'm probably applying there too (though it's uber expensive). Another reason to like TASP, for sure. :)

oh, and my book list was, imo, the weakest part of my application. i just haven't had the time to leisurely read much at all in the past few years. :(

I was thinking of applying to RSI, too. I'm really into science, so it sounded awesome.

Then I saw how you should have research experience. THEN I saw how they want at least a 75 in math on the PSAT. THEN I saw how if you didn't have that, you needed a combined 225 score.

THEN I said, "Forget that."

wow this thread is 150 pgs long..thats crazy.
anyway, TASP is def. my #1 choice but i also applied to nj scholar

you don't need prior research experience to get accepted into RSI

Well, you are right. But they "recommend" it. And I was reading about people who previously attended, and nearly all of the science kids had previous research experience.

So yeah...based on that (and the test scores), I am not even going to bother wasting my time with an application.

Going to Mathcamp Usa/Canada if I don't get into TASP...

BTW, for everyone out there: MATHCAMP is really an AMAZING program as well. If you're into Math/Science, definitely consider it if you don't get into TASP! (sorry, just really needed to rant about that for a couple secs!)

r u guys all aware that the due date for sending in ur application for TASP is already gone?

0re0 - yes.

we just hang around on the thread cuz we love each other :]

^^Are you aware that you haven't read a single post on that page?

(p45510n, you totally made me edit =P. CC moving my post onto a new page also made me edit.)

I also got mail from Harvard, Vanderbilt, and Stanford summer programs. Eh, those I'll apply for a bit later though, since they want money. RSI, I'm out. No friggin way I'd be accepted for that at all.

So yeah. I'm praying for TASP and Gov School -- well, if I prayed, anyhow.

I luckily didn't have to apply to anything else....

I was nominated for TASS the same week I got a letter asking me back to be a Junior Leader at Camp Dudley in Westport, NY (it pays too:-P)

Since I already have a position there I was able to work out a contingency plan with the admins at the camp.... So dependent on me getting in to TASS I will or will not be a leader.

Its a pretty awesome situation to be in. Amazing summer either way, however, TASS is definitely my first choice :-D

GL to every one

RSI? Dude. I read some of last year's final reports and I was blown away. It's definately a program out of my 69 on the math PSAT range. >_>;;

I'm starting to cast my "net of influence"... calling in favors and such. I'm hoping to get a page position at Columbia or an internship in the city if TASP falls through...both are total shots in the dark, though.

In the worst case scenario, I'll go work for the New York City Public Library. I did it last summer and it was hot. My other option is to get an apprenticeship with a New York jeweler.

I guess I might apply to the gov school, as long as apps aren't due yet? Do you guys see why I rrreeeeaaaallllllyyyy want TASP? lol

Erch, I want TASP soooooo badly too. It sounds absolutely fantastic. I dunno if I should bother applying for RSI. I meet their PSAT requirements, but I haven't had any research experience either, and I don't know how well I'd do at RSI, if I even got in, due to my blatant lack of...stuff. I'll take a look at the app, and try it if I think I have 1) time and 2) any chance at all. X_X

Haha you guys are awesome. It's nice how the TASP thread has become it's own (not so little) community. I agree with p45510n. Feel the loveeee. LoL.

Yeah seriously I wonder if this thread will still be active in like half a month. Probably. It'll probably start getting super tense by the end of February.

If I don't get into TASP, then I think I'm going to just take some community college classes. I could get some stuff over with so I can have an easier senior year. Or I could just do UC Berkeley Summer Session again...or UCLA. :/ I just want to go to TASP though. It'd be so awesome meeting all of you. Or at least some of you since there's 5 seminars.

Yea forgottenhawk and passion, it's starting to chill a little on the board, but we're still spreading the love. :D I love how TASP has made people bond already, even in the applicant stage. ^_^

taggart, i did read the posts on the last page though lol >.>
i was responding to oreo along with crimson haha

gl to all of you and your applications :]

Yeah man, it'll be so great because we already know, what, 20% of the people who will be getting in? Based on last year's amazing CC record?

That would be hot. Those getting in should form a little CC study group at each TASP and prank each other independantly of the main group. >D

wait, if we mailed in our apps, do we get confirmation emails?

i'm so anxious about this, what if my app got lost in the mail?!!?!
