Tasp 2007

Nah. If I don't get into TASP I have to go to debate camp, where it's the same thing. =). I just didn't want to muck up my excited Harry Potter (!) post with all the details of my summer. And I didn't say "I'll," I said "I'd!"

Hey, we've hit 2400 posts. What a beautiful number.

lol you guys freak out about the most minor things. i just realized that the first sentence of my future plans essay reads:

"The entire world is within my sphere of influence."

which is probably the most pompous thing i could come up with and exactly the opposite of what i really wished to say.

oh well, i never sent in all my essays anyways so i guess i needn't worry.

iris, you shouldn't worry without reading my essays... ahh, soo many grammar errors, so many... I hope they don't think I have some verbal deficiency.

whatismouse - I practically died after reading that.

I looked in my essay, and I realized that the one instance I mentioned Amory Blaine, I spelled his name wrong.

"All the Amory Blains of the world."

Who the crap is Amory Blain.

Oh well. At least I hope it's an obvious typo.

I am blissfully ignorant of all the typos in my essays. Haven't looked at 'em since I sent in my app :D

At approximately this time last year, I had myself convinced that writing "Atticus Fitch" instead of "Atticus Finch" had absolutely killed my chances for TASPly glory.

needless to say, typos = not a big deal.

Confidence in your application provided by -- CC.

Comfort on a CC board... WHO KNEW?

yea typos arent really a big deal...after all the only thing you did wrong was miss a few keys on the keyboard.

vegangirl - welcome back! we haven't heard from you in a while. Applications are in but despite that fact, none of us can seem to pry ourselves away form here!

:P

ah wow, im back after like a week
and i only had to read about 10 pages
not BADD considering i was expecting 20 :D

thx for the book recommendations! :]

This thread is unusually sluggish these days...

Actually, scratch that--considering we did, of course, reach 161 pages during the course of some three months. I can't imagine what the next generation of TASPlicants will be like!

you kids make me proud by continuing to engage in the noble tradition of completely smoking the RSI thread. Can you believe they're only on page eight? tisk tisk.

hahaha. Because TASP is clearly soo much cooler than RSI.

lol word.

definitely in the library right now reading sparknotes. All Quiet on the Western Front IS NOT on my book list of suggestions. Its just To blah. Also these names are kicking my butt. Kantorek....Kimmerick...Kyzchstyn....Kapp...Kropp. Then randomly they switch to thier first names. ***. Like how Im I suposse to be that engaged to understand such craziness.

Okay SO I'm really mad I have been so postal from these boards. Never get to reply any more. Yet, I some how find myself with more time.

I noticed how all of you were pointing out Typos and stuff. Ehhh :-/
It will be alright. In one of my essays I constantly switched between saying: N-word, "N" word, and then the word its self. I really didnt even look back at it though. Telluride isnt the place thats so anal they would hang you out to dry because you wrote some russian chemisists name with two "Tch" instead of one. wonders how that would work TchTchskosky..
Makes me think of TICK TICK TICK BOOM.....

Im sorry Im sort of spacing out from being at school. I also think I have carpal tunnel :-/ my pinky wont close and its tingling (sp?)

Wow now im just droning on.

Omg the guy who defecated his pants died....thats sad. (All Quiet on the Western Front)

TTY'allL

Aw. I love All Quiet on the Western Front. And I love Katczinsky.

Oh man...I wasn't able to get on CC for practically a week, and I almost died. X_X Thanks all for the book suggestions. I need to get some more reading done outside of school (blech). I am extremely unread. :(

On another note, obviously, this thread will never die (or at the very least, not for the next few months). In regards to what people were saying about the rereading the essays thing - I just haven't looked at mine. I know I'd go crazy over some typos or grammatical craziness.

In the interest of preventing the RSI thread from getting 1% of our page count, I'd like to introduce a new topic:

"Books you should have read by now but haven't...why?"

I am CONSTANTLY being like, "Wow. I should have read that by now. Huh." Today I was in my local bookstore and I passed by Murasaki Shikibu's Tale of Genji. I thought, "Whoa. I'm a student of the Japanese aesthetic and I haven't even read Tale of Genji?" I've read The Pillow Book, but...yeah. I found the cheapest (while longest) translation and hightailed it.

Has anybody else had this experience? Another example: all the great Russian literature. Everyone is like, "OH YES CRIME AND PUNISHMENT" and I feel a bit silly for totally ignoring it to read...I don't know...the latest issue of US Weekly. Which, by the way, I included on my booklist. THAT is high literature.
