TASS interview-can't believe it, What will they ask in the interview and why are more TASS'ers not on this board. Corey-what was your first choice program?

BTW you guys are hilarious! Love the songs.

This thread is dying...it devastates me.

On a side note, I think we should try and beat the Prep School Admissions forum. They have slightly over twice the amount of posts that this Summer Program Forum does, so it's only like 7400 posts.

We can do it, I have faith in our posting prowess.

YAY! I get an interview in person. They've got someone in Germany.

I emailed the big cheese back telling her I was willing to do a phone interview, but if they had a representative somewhere else in Europe I would be even more willing to travel somewhere for a face-to-face. Her reply to my reply was way less formal than my reply to her message and now I'm worried that I looked like an a$$. On the plus side, if I'm worried about something as trivial as email formality, it's a sign that I don't have better things to worry about, which is good. Or maybe it's just an indication that my sense of humanitarian compassion is failing and I'm not worried enough about the starving children in Africa...

Oh, and just to keep things flowing, I haven't been to a school dance since seventh grade and do not plan on attending prom. The music they play at school dances sucks, and even if I transcend that suckiness to cut a rug anyway, the next morning I am filled with a sense of deep shame for lowering myself to boogie down to awful music.

school dances are pretty ok
we only have like 3 a year tops though
and wth is sadies

and my letter showed up today, it was nice

for those of us who got interviews, just found this link:
http://www.collegeconfidential.com/dean/archives/000136.htm

not really that much information, but it's something

there is also this one

"they will have read and annotate the essays so that they can ask you questions about your general interests, the logical flow of your argumentation, your word choice, your moral beliefs, your convictions, etc.

The best advice I have is to read up on current events so you have a comfortable grasp on issues in which lively intellectuals are likely to take interest, and to read over your essays again so you can defend them intelligently and reasonably."

I got my letter!

I was absolutely thrilled on Friday after calling in but getting the actual letter has made me excited all over again. I've been walking around with this dorky smile plastered to my face :). I can't wait to have my interview scheduled!!

sigh

And congratulations to everyone that has recently found out about interviews!!!!

yay those 15 pages made me late for dinner

that was definitely the most informative interview help i've seen by far though

runs to the car

Giantredlobster & million$baby: yeah... i'm just lazy like that. maybe if i was more motivated, i would actually reach the screen. :P

ProcrastinNate: sadie hawkins is the dance where the girls ask the guys, pay for dinner, hold the door open, etc.

still no letter...anyone else in the same boat?

got mine...if you're on the west coast it'll probably take a few more days.

i'm in massachusetts though...

I just got my letter today and I live in Seattle. And I'm guessing it's not by last names since mine starts with a W. Maybe the mailmen here are just speedy :D

^and that is precisely why i am worried. i'm not expecting to get in at all, but i do want to know, and i certainly don't want anything drastic to have happened, like maybe they never received my app at all or something :(

/hypochondriac-ness

you can call/email. certainly faster than waiting for a letter!

I'm actually excited to be interviewed...

Regarding dances, most of my friends are going to Sadies this month. I had asked this senior who is like, universally admired as an attractive guy. He said yes. I was happy. The next day, though, he told me that he had a girlfriend and she wanted to go with him. At first I was TOO understanding. A few periods later, I yelled at him, when the surprise had worn off.
Now within mere days I don't find him attractive at all.. I just don't care about him either way. :/ But I'm not going to Sadies. And like ten people a day ask me to divulge what happened when I really don't want to rehash it. It's worse when ppl don't know and they excitedly mention that I'm going to Sadies with such a great guy.

Anyway, how are you all preparing for your interviews?

I'm planning on reading the newspaper everyday.. for one.

Actually to clarify about the dance thing.. he said his gf was jealous, sort of hinting that I should make it easy on him and let him off the hook for saying yes the other day. I didn't know he had a gf at all. So he said he would talk to her and tell me what happens.

But I got ****ed and told him that a decent person would have said no in the first place or kept his word. And then I said even if he wants to go with me, I would say no now.
