Tasp 2007

aah gender-ambiguity strikes again

that makes more sense though i guess, lindeek sounds like a dutch name

has anyone still not been contacted yet? :/

yup! me and inky, i know. i think a handful of us have not been contacted yet.

when i read the 05 thread it seemed like some people weren't contacted until early april even

Sophomoregalore...you are completely right. AND BOTH THINGS ARE GREAT. AMIRITE? roflmao. Had to say it. Anyway, moving on.

"I feel the same way; most of us are pretty much alone in the process (...) the real support I get is from you guys, who actually get how MUCH I want this. None of my friends understand it...I guess six weeks of summer vacation spent discussing religious reform isn't appealing to most people our age?"

For those of you that get into TASP, this is what withdrawal will be like, except times a thousand and adding to that the feeling of missing your TASPy best friends. None of your friends at school will understand what you went through during those six weeks; only other TASPers will. HAHA. Yeah, dude. Most people our age want to go to the beach, party, or do whatever that is NOT related to studying. But trust me, though TASP is intellectually stimulating, fun times abound. That's what makes TASP different and so awesome; the people, the fun, and the random stuff that happens. The seminar is just the icing on top of the big ol' cake. I've said this a million times, but I just have to keep stressing it. XD

As far as acceptances go, I don't think they'll pick the "omg smartest and most eloquent" kids. I bet they'll pick those that are, aside from smart and awesome, likely to truly benefit from such an experience. Some people NEED TASP and don't even know it. It can be lifechanging for some people, myself included. I bet they'll choose people that would seem to round out and diversify the community, both in talents and life experiences. Stuff like that.

Mmm, Godiva chocolate. drool

Actually, being called a nerd is like being called a bee-eye-tee-cee-eich. It used to be bad, but we have to reclaim that word and make it into something positive or at least powerful. Being a sterotypical nerd is what's awful. Being nerdy in general, in certain areas and stuff, is pretty damn cool.

Corey, you're nuts. Call me anytime, though. Call my house OR...better yet, call my mom's phone. I'll text it to you later or something. It's free. ^^ Your GC sounds super shweet. Mine...means well, but can sometimes...just...no. With some things, she's great, but with others, she's not. Oh dear. That sounds pretty bad, dude. >_< Well, you have time to fix that grade somehow.

LMAO! Free geek camp, indeed!

No worries kids...to those that haven't been contacted, I mean. It'll happen in the upcoming weeks. If by the first week of April you haven't heard ANYTHING, call Telluride and let 'em know. :)

Every tuesday I walk to A&P and get myself a cannoli. They are normally huge for the price ($1) and taste amazing. But today Im' mad. I sware this is half the size of what I got last week and they raised the price 30 cents!! Anyone want to stage a nationwide boycot of A&P with me?

I remember reading a short story about an A&P once, but I don't think I've ever seen one. =O

I think I need TASP. I want to be around people my age who are just as excited about Jasper Tudor as I am. (10 points if you know who he is.) Then, intelligence is hot...and I go to an all-girls' boarding school. Third, the topics all really interest me.

Oh, and how rad does the chill time sound there? I can't wait to hang with people as rock-tastic all all of you. PLUS, we get access to the rare documents library at Cornell! You better BELIEVE I'll be in there a lot.

Actually, the music library is the best place, because you can check out CDs for a few days and ahem procure whatever music you want

ooh fun
oh and globber you don't happen to know someone by the name Josh L?
i think he's a freshman

no idea; I know a few joshes, none with a last initial of L

ok nvm then

anyway, can't wait for my interview!

"Then, intelligence is hot...and I go to an all-girls' boarding school. "

LOL. Oh yes, ma'am. I agree.

Squee, new little TASPy romances. Oh the excitement! Oh the draping that will be had! Imagine if some of YOU wind up involved in a TASPy romance with other CCers. coos XD

But yes. I was very impressed with the people. "OMGZ, some are attractive AND SMART?! WHAT?!"

silly fools. smart and attractive are oxymorons. hasn't the american educational system taught you anything?

haha. I think there's a whole thread on this in the College Life forum.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 3: AT WORLDS END

MAY 25TH

I just saw the trailer. It looks amazing.

I haven't even watched Pirate of the Caribbean 2 yet!

Haha :)

Haha musechick you reminded me of another one of my daydreams.

So the interviewer will ask, "Why should we accept you to TASP? What would you contribute? Why does TASP need you?"

And then my response will be, "Honestly, I think I need TASP more than it needs me. I mean, I think I'm an interesting and quirky person, but I think the experience that I'll get out of it will do way more for me than I might ever contribute to it. Just the...then I will choke up and do passionate hand gestures here ...I don't know how to say it, TASP just sounds like the best thing that could ever happen to me. Even just being forced to write those essays really helped me "discover" myself and my voice, and even if I don't get in, it will still be entirely worth it."

HAHA such a corny answer. I think I get rather delusional when I walk to school alone...

We watched both PotCs at TASP. XD

HEY! It's not an oxymoron! I'm smart and I'm hot! :P lol

Random-though-somewhat-related Quote:

"Keira Knightley's face is like a chickpea." - Mr. Turkish Lover

LOL!!! Oh Tako. I'd love to watch you do that in person. XD

Haha. Aida what you can contribute to TASP....

"I can contribute my hotness and of course my makeup skills. After all people always learn more when they look sexy." -Aida

Tako IMO I think you should take a 48 hour break from CC before your interview...That way you can clear your head and dont let people on here convince you green tights like robin hood is a good look for your interview. :-P

lol giantredlobster, i'm a junior, just registered for cc when i was a sophomore. next time i should choose something less ephemeral, like a shortened version of my name.

so i got the interview in two days, what should i wear?
it's in a coffee house and with one person, so the atmosphere should be chill.
i'm one of those guys who wear jeans and t-shirts all the time, and flipflops if the weather's not ridiculously freezing.
the only semi-casual shirt that i have is a pink dress shirt, and the formal tuxedo i have... well, a suit in a coffee house is like wearing hippie clothing to an emo poetry reading.

corey maybe this isn't true for tass but in our interview notifications it said tasp interviews are robin hood-themed this year
so yeah, stop spreading such heinous misinformation
