my choices are exactly the opposite of roam :D

Yay for Cornell II!

My others were: (2) UT Austin; (3) Michigan; (4) Cornell I; (5) WashU

TO THE LURKERS: Come out, come out, wherever you are!!!

No seriously, we'd love to meet you. ^_^ And besides, wouldn't it be incredible that at least half the 07' TASPers be CCers!?

PS: Welcome to razzberry and GLK!!

omg full tuition at U of C?

I'm SOOOO jealous. You are absolutely amazing, Aida.

omg Congrats Aida!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

to the people discussing interview weight vs. essays weight

The interview has more weight, I think. This isn't because they have a specific scoring system or anything, but because your personality is an incredibly important factor in acceptance to the program, if only because you'll be in really close quarters with other people. A bad interview will hurt your chances a lot even if you have superb essays, whereas a great interview will really help even if your essays are less than average.

What kind of personality are they looking for tho? cuz i hav a friend here (also possible future TASPer) who thinks she was too friendly and confident & i think i just came off spastic & too forward.. & judging by some pictures we saw (yeah we looked up tasp pictures & found ALOT) everyone looked kinda quiet and unassuming, like thinkers but not outgoing. so..uh haha i jus wanna get into UT!

haha & thanks kathy_violin=]

I'm breaking my vow :(

I had to say: TRASP 2007 IRAQ REMIX you guys crack me up.

Lol RazzBerry-- saying that TASP kids are quiet and unassuming is totally false. One word: drape-ing (Aida and Grace wink wink)
The past TASPers im chill with are all amazing people with personalities that are incomparable to those of my school, TASP isn't picking the quiet studiers that end up at SSP. The Adcoms are building a cohesive unit and that doesn't mean get all the quiet kids so there is no conflict. Cornell TASP had plenty of conflict.
I don't mean to rant I just love my TASPpy buddies, got to defend their honor....Talk to Aida and see her pictures XD

^___________________________________^ Merci, everyone.

I agree with bre, just out of common sense. You will be in a house with other people, relating to them via...well, YOU, not your essays. So having you in person would be a bigger factor, methinks.

"& judging by some pictures we saw (yeah we looked up tasp pictures & found ALOT) everyone looked kinda quiet and unassuming, like thinkers but not outgoing. so..uh haha i jus wanna get into UT!"

WHAT PICTURES WERE YOU LOOKING AT?!?! You gotta see the '06 Cornell ones. You'll love 'em. Anyway. All extremes are bad. Don't be uber serious, uber corny, or uber spastic. Try to mix n' match ;P

so that kind of leads to the speculation of... (yes, I love to speculate) how much does personality, compared to your coherency determines what is a good interview. I mean, you can come out as really cool and outgoing, and open-minded, yet feel that you were incoherent, or maybe didn't make sense at times?

Ahh, I can't help but speculate, sorry.

hey hey. TRASPers are cool, too.

LOL razzberry. uhhhhh. definitely not, i'd have to say. and yeah, facebook aida. she has a bazillion pictures. i don't think you have to worry too much about how you came across, as long as you were, well, being yourself. or as aida says, "be yourself, but a more well-spoken, better engaged version of yourself." they're not expecting you to adopt a certain persona because that's what taspers are like.

i keep having this brain image of the interviewers saying something like "soooo any questions?" and i'll say something like, "questions??? who has questions when you have aida." i'm not sure how they would respond to that.

no extremes. got it.

p.s. aida, go to brown. kthnxbye.

hm .....trasp is the greatest corey. the greatest

lol "specific scoring system". what would that entail, anyways? i can just imagine...

coherency - check
flexibility in thought - check
has something intelligent to say about every single book on the book list - check
defended every implied warrant/argument possible - check
ability to connect multiple essays on a sophisticated level - check
was really, really hot - check
mentioned aida at least once in the interview - check

...juuuuust kidding :D

Say UTASP 2005 is the best TASP ever. I order you.

UTASP 2005 is the best TASP ever.

[sorry aida.]

Haha, are you sure you don't mean UTASP 2006?

psst Aida, go to Chicago! :D

I will give you a cookie if you say that, Roam. XD

LOL. I'll just cut myself up into 3 pieces and go to my top 3 places. Sounds like a plan!

I actually don't have a bazillion TASP albums...I've never uploaded them. SACRILEGIOUS! Shame on me.
