^^ i'm pretty sure that's a cardinal sin in puerto rico.

Oh man, Aida!! You lucky! Go to UChicago. Psst. (Not necessarily in that order.) I just went to a UChicago open house last Friday. Quite the enjoyable experience. =D

My interview's this Saturday...I'm really getting the jitters!! I'm worried that I won't be able to think on my feet, and I won't have anything coherent and/or intelligent to say in response to the interviewers' questions. I'm just hoping that my interviewers won't rapid-fire complex questions at me and attack my essays.

Oh, and congrats to all of the people who have braved their interviews already! To those of you who weren't happy with your interviews, I'm absolutely sure that you did much better than you expect!

XD

I might go check it out on the 12th and 13th, if my parents let me. Uchi would be paying for the airfare and stuf...

GLUCK! Just chill. :)

And yes, dude. Sometimes "bad" interviews aren't "bad" at all!

Wow im breaking my promise yet again...

I have to take the bus to my interview. Got to love those transfers in my nice clothes :-P. Ironic too since right now in Japanese I'm writing a composition detailing how to get between 5 stations in japan on the subway, needless to say there are more subway lines in Japan then any other city. I also don't know the physical location on the Stanford campus so hopefully I will find that out soon so I can plan by bus route accordingly.

AIDA WHY ARENT YOU TALKING TO MY THIS VERY MOMENT?!?! you finish the novel....Its English translation :-P? I might call you. + I talked to Statwicks sis' (Love at first facebook comment) Also go to UChi through DC, say its official business...because you need to talk to my mom since she went there gives puzzled stare at own comment

whoa im so glad the people there are what you guys say theyre like! Giantredlobster, what is this "draping" you speak of?

and Aida, she seems pretty famous on this site- anyone wanna givme her link to pics or facebook

& who put UT as their first choice?

Yet another lurker crawls out of her corner and joins the discussion! I'm a bit nervous about the interview - at first I was really satisfied by how easy it had been, for I got a really laid-back, pleasant interviewer, but now I feel like perhaps it was a little too easy. I wasn't challenged, and I feel like I came off as over-confident. I made her laugh a lot, but perhaps that's a bad thing?

Aggghhhhhh, I don't know what to think.

CORNELL II IS WHERE IT'S AT!

Musechick - I'm a puerto rican as well! Though a Gainesville-raised Puerto Rican...

You guys shouldn't worry about what personality they're looking for.

Be yourself.

It's cliche, but your interviewer will be smart, and will be able to tell if you aren't being yourself. There is really no way you can effectively come off with a different personality than the one you actually have.

PS Draping hahaha

my interviewer told me the admissions people changed the procedure this year so that they don't really want to know what the interviewer thought of the person, just notes on what they said. which makes it seem like they don't care as much about your personality, maybe? I didn't get any group living questions either.

My interviewer didn't even take notes. He must have some incredible memory!!

haha "There is really no way you can effectively come off with a different personality than the one you actually have." true, bre has a point, yet now its regardless of personality, its your answers.. which... Aghhh whatever i feel like my chances of getting in are constantly fluctuating. ergo screw it, if im in, im in.

& Krzy, thanks for last nite boo;)

razz: Same here. One minute I feel I might have a chance, the next I'm sure I don't. AARG.

I WAS ASLEEP, COREY! :P I was freaking pooped.

I finished it. It's more like a short-story, since it's...well...short. XD No translation yet, though. :P

My parents didn't let me go to Uchi. tear It's dumb. I'm off to college in a few months, to live on my OWN, and they're like "It's uneccesary danger!" rolls eyes

LOL. Razzberry, that's only vaguely creepy. jk jk. =P Are you M. Li_? Right? Right? Exactly.

SCORE, CHOCOLATEMILK!!! Cornell II rocks my socks and Puerto Rico does too. Have you ever been here? Or...were you born here and raised there? Give me your life story! ^^

Weird. I'll tell you guys how my interview went from the perspective of an interviewer. It's this Friday.

And yes. JUST CHILL OUT. If you're done with the 'view, relax. If you're in, you're in. No use worrying about it now, is there? :) Just relax.

musechick: Do you know if any TASPers from last year are headed to MIT?

HAHA musechick, ur pretty much psychic. wow to mention creepy im checkin out ur facebook right now.. damn i swear im really not a creepy person in rel life u guys.

hey kathy_violin, what was ur tasp session order?

razz: I have
1) Cornell I
2) Cornell II
3) UMich
4) UT
5) WUSTL (this is a default 5, by the way. I would be thrilled to go to any one of the seminars!)

How about you?

kathy- 1. UT 2. Internatl Politics on Film 3. Renaissance 4. St.Louis 5. Race, Space..

lol i kinda forgot the respective locations, i heard u usually get ur first two choices, so im trying to see who here might b someone i POSSIBLY could meet IF i get in.. :)

Hmmm, I don't think so, Globber. I know about almost everyone's acceptances, and not one mentioned MIT. Some applied, yes, but they didn't get in. :(

Don't worry, razz. I would've done the same thing. ;)

Yeah, I think musechick is right...I think I was the only one from my TASP even considering MIT, and I ended up not applying. It seems like Harvard is the favorite among TASPers. Some ridiculous number like 5 or 6 or maybe even more out of 18 from my TASP plan on going there.

Life story? clears throat Well, it all started in a dark, desolate location I like to call my mother's womb...

Wow, creepy, just kidding - my whole family's Puerto Rican, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I was born here in G-ville (the G stands for a plethora of things - Gangsta, Gator, and if you're boring, Gaines) but my entire family seems to be into the whole group migration thing, so somehow we're all over here now. But yes, I've been there twice - my favorite places as of now are Viejo San Juan, Culebra, and Jayuya.

I was considering applying to MIT up until I got a nice little letter from MITES saying that I only made their waiting list, which was a bit disheartening, but I like to think that it's simply because they're looking for people who need the opportunity more than I do. cough

Oh, and my order (it seems like the popular thing to post):

Cornell II
Wash U
Cornell I
UT

And I put an x next to the Mich one... it just sounded so dry!

Oh, and Razz - no shame.

aida's from san juan! (does viejo mean old?)

yay for cornell II!
