Tasp 2007

I liked my essays alot better when I was typing them. After I looked back at them I hated them and could'nt bring myself to fully proof-read them. Oh well. I want to try and forget about TASP for a month or so, but that probably will not happen. Now I am wating time on CC instead of studying for the SAT like I should be doing.

I just finished my app. I don't know why I didn't get one of the PSAT ones, I was in the 99th percentile...darn. Anyway, the essays are finally completed, my (probably shifty) reccomendation is in, and my transcript sealed. All I have to do is make the copies and somehow assemble this thing...what confusing directions.

I wrote the analysis on a John Donne poem, the topic essay on geisha and prostitution, and the conflict resolution about the two years I spent trying to not lose my mind in therapeutic boarding school (long story). Are these diverse enough? (My top choice is the renaissance one...)

By the way, I began the analysis essay last night at one in the morning and finished by three. if I get in it'll be a miracle. -_-;

I just heard about the application yesterday, and I'm trying to write all my essays before the Jan 26 deadline.

I have the internal conflict essay written, and it's exactly two pages single spaced.
I've started the second essay, but I'm not sure I can expand on this one as much. What's the shortest length I could get away with?

I don't think any of us really know for sure about the length, but I think the general consensus is that if you can say everything you need to say in a short essay then that's probably fine. Better than just over-elaborating to fill space.

No school today because it's exam makeup day and I don't have any exams to make up. So I have three and a half hours left to finish and get to the post office by 5. What good timing for a day off from school :)

Crap. I mailed 2 transcripts instead of 3. Should I get another transcript and mail it in separately?

Nelgihs:: the problem is that if you're applying online, the rec and transcript were supposed to be in a week ago...you might still be able to pull it off if you send them in NOW. Like, as in yesterday...

WHEE FOR 8.5 HOURS OF SLEEP!! =] I love late start days and skipping morning practice.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!!

and WEEE for no sleep since sunday mornign at 8am! good stuff. and i had 2 midterms today lmao and i think i still aced em.

congratulations to everyone who sent in an application!! i'm doing mine online and i was just wondering for the critical analysis, does the work that i analyze need to be well known? im thinking of doing a short story that is by a famous writer but probably not widely read. thanks!!

to chocaholic: The work you're analyzing doesn't have to be well-known. I know a bunch of ppl analyzed foreign (not too well known) lit, and I for one am analyzing a cartoon. :D So don't worry about it!

Any person who ALREADY did TASP want to critique my essays (cept the first which im just doing now)?

ok thanks! that gives me a ton of choices.....which is good and bad because now i have to decide which one to use. thats really cool that you're doing a cartoon...interesting.

Argh...in rereading my essays I noticed one or two silly typos (well, more like omissions). That irks me to no end... Ah, well. I guess I'll live.

Actually, scratch that. Maybe I should go jump off the world instead. :)

Just imagine TRYING to jump off the world...I think you'd like rather silly. =]

=] Almost finished with the entire application. My guidance counselor went ahead and sent the transcript without the teacher's recommendation. Apparently, my teacher sent it separately. Organization's pretty much non-existent, and I'm submitting e-apps!

w00t.

Thank god I'm content with my essays.

OMG this thread has grown a lot since I last visited. Haha. I haven't been active for like 50 pages.

I can't believe the deadline is so close (online app). I'm extremely grateful for these few extra days. :)

i am DONEEEEEEE. =DDDDDDDDDDDDDDD actually, done as of 8:17 am this morning (finished it during my free period, lmao).

everything is in a nice little pile and i just have to get it down to the post office tonight (even though it'll be closed, and it's going to be postmarked tomorrow instead of the 22nd).

i emailed ellen baer and explained to her that my teacher was giving me my rec today, and i couldn't get down to the post office before it closes at 4 because i have practice after school. she said it was fine, so everyone else who is doing the online app and freaking out about missing the transcript/rec deadline on the 15th... just email telluride and they'll probably be cool with it.

and good luckkkkkk to all the online applicants!!!!

[dances around]

Ahh yay to everyone!!!

I am definitely suppose to be at lacrosse practice now, but of course my stuff was at home and now that I walked home taking the bus wont get me there till it is almost over (VTA sucks :( grrr) <--Public trans. system here in the valley

Anyways. Jenny I <3 your me picture. Very bossy

And passion very cute, bummer your wand tap didn't work. Although im not complaining that I don't have SATs next sat. :-P Sorry guys

Welcome back Justin, you have been under the radar. How your issue or was it conflict essay that I wrote turn out?

Yanners don't worry about the 3 transcript thing. It will be less confusing for them to just copy one then have a rogue transcript flying around. (whats the point of 3 anyways ???)

Nelgihs, don't be overwhelmed. Some famous TASPers (although I cant name any) finished their apps in 1 day. I'm sure till the 26th will be ample time :D GL!!!

iriseyes don't worry the whole PSAT thing is hella random. Congrats on yer perfect score tho. Pretty dang impressive

Talking about perfect scores :-/ Corey sucked on all his finals. I mean abysmal. Math I got D+. Japanese D. Chem C+

Gah 1st semester sucked for me. But hey the past is the past. This one girl who got a 101 on our Jap final, was like complaining and kept pointing out what she got. Then in math this one hella smart kid, didn't get a perfect score and there was only one perfect score in the entire class, so when it wasn't him everyone was like *** and both of the kids almost cried :-P

Gah 2nd semester sophomore baby YEAH!!!

Love yall... and congrats to those on the east who submitted a while ago, those in the central who submitted hopefully before 5 o'clock, and those on the west....2 more hours baby w00t.

GL!!!

Elen Baer is so chill!!!!

I wonder if she is related to Jack BaUer... hmm
Yea 24 is my love.

Congrats Roamorse....do we have pictures?

Yay! My whole app is officially in. I sent in the online app on the 2nd, the transcript was sent on the 15th, and my recommender just said he sent his in over the weekend - far from ideal, but good enough. Should I email TASP after the fact, though? I figured that a couple days shouldn't be a biggie.

Corey, you must not have taken the PSAT this year, slacker. A 99 percentile is NOT the same as a perfect score-- it's much easier to get.
