Anyone know of any good alternative programs to TASP? I'm looking for an intellectually stimulating program with a humanities focus, preferably in art history and philosophy, that (let's not kid ourselves) would look at least somewhat impressive to colleges. Unfortunately, all the programs I've looked at just seem kind of...pale in comparison, unsurprisingly. Suggestions?

Yeah, I was looking for good ones, but nothing seems to compare. Regardless, I need backups, if anyone could tell me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Haha, me too. I'm open to any programs in Canada also!

Maybe this? Although I'm not sure how CMU defines diversity. It's free, at least.

powerbomb, why not Explore [in Canada]?

Have started looking at Oxbridge- though not quite TASP (and definately not free), it seems to have a lot of good humanities topics available, in addition to being held in Paris, Oxford, and Cambridge. Anyone know anything about its reputation?

^ Given the exorbitant cost and rolling admission, I'd say those Oxbridge programs look like the typical rich-kid vacations. Not to say that they wouldn't be academically fulfilling, but certainly not up to TASP's prestige OR price.

Bumping this thread. Any other humanities-oriented programs that are free (or at least less than a grand)?

carelton liberal arts experience

I found this
Writers Workshop at Susquehanna University
could be interesting.

It's worth noting here that Carleton Liberal Arts Experience is largely limited to African-American students. Technically it is open to those interested in African-American culture, but I have yet to see a photograph from CLAE with participants from other races.

The Susquehanna workshop looks interesting; too bad the deadline is before TASP final results come out.

I went to the Carleton Liberal Arts Experience.

It's definitely very AA-oriented

It was amazing!

Lat year people got notification as early as the 27th of april. So you could make an application beforehand and send it if you're rejected. You're still up a creek if you get waitlisted, though.
