tasp interview tips

Inkling,
Cool. What contest?
The yes-then-no thing has applied to me too. yow.

they're making decisions this very minute

River of Words, poetry, but I have no idea which poem! (They just stuck my name up there and didn't even bother to send me a letter or anything, but my English teacher had a heart attack!)

Everybody, QUICK, think good vibes to the admissions people! Then again, that might backfire if they aren't discussing you right now, but whatever...

Anybody here taken IB Math Methods exam? Prob. not. Anybody taking AP or IB in the next few weeks, good luck. I don't envy the AP people! (IB is a lot easier for writers.)

what is tasp?

"A TASP is a six-week educational experience for high school juniors that offers challenges and rewards rarely encountered in secondary school or even college."

http://www.tellurideassociation.org/tasp1.html

They Are Deciding Our Fate!!!!!!!!!!!

i hope we get these letters by monday--id rather be stress free for aps

I'm more worried about TASP than APs/SATs.

lol.

Why? SATs and APs (or IBs as the case may be) you can still do something about. TASP is literally out of our hands. My philosophy: worry yourself sick over something in your power; check the mail box daily for that which is not.

I hope I get my letter by Monday too. If I don't, I have to come up with something quick or else be doomed to another consecutive summer of babysitting little brothers while my mother goes to class. (Last summer, I even lied about the hours so that she didn't have to pay me as much.) I WANNA DO SOMETHING THIS TIME AROUND!

you could always do volunteer work/internships-- try volunteermatch.org

i'm going to either research for a child abuse center or work at the DC Holocaust museum if i don't get into TASS. but it's totally not the same! :[ i've never had an intellectual experience like this before.

Thanks for the help, but the problem is that, if I don't go to TASP, there is no way I can get out of helping my mother. She needs me at home. Volunteering, but not the kind that looks good on college admissions.

guys, a totally inane question i know--
does envelope size matter?

yes claret the longer the envelope the greater your chance of getting in

i think the... performance of the envelope is more important in this case. the quicker it arrives, the greater your chance of getting in.

i think so too, but id still get scared if i got a skinny little thing.

of course size matters. whoever is saying it doesn't has a pretty tiny envelope.

God...reading this right now makes me so nervous...

I applied for TASP but didn't make the first cut, and I'd just like to wish all of you good luck. I can imagine how stressful the application process has been and I know you all deserve to get into this program.

you get an email if you get in-- last year, mine was sent on a tuesday. letters for everyone arrive a few days later; my acceptance letter was in a normal sized envelope and had 1 sheet of paper.
good luck!

thanks for the info (and the luck).

psst -- Richard, when you call them, could you ask them when (or if, should that be the case) they're sending out emails this year?
