So I have been looking at the TASP program recently and I'm getting more and more interested in it, but I am wondering if it is really as great as people make it out to be. Like do top colleges know of the program, and do they consider it prestigious? Also, would they be impressed knowing that you got into it? And does it weigh better whether you go to the stanford session instead let's say the John Hopkins session? I would like some feedback, especially if you've gone to the program and if you enjoyed it.

It is one of the most prestigious, if not the most prestigious, summer program you could attend. Colleges do know about it, and considering the rigor of TASP admissions, when colleges see a TASP student, they can be certain that that student is an incredible. unbelievably intelligent and insightful, unbelievably intelligent, and insightful thinker.

Ivy League schools definitely know of the program. Top 20 schools definitely know of the program. It’s one of the top out there.

It does not matter which session you go to: go to the specific session that would interest you most (granted you can get in to your top choice). They are equally great, so don’t worry about that.

I have not gone to the program, so I can’t personally speak for the experience, but of those who I know have gone, they say it was one of the most challenging (and best) experiences of their lives.

I think some of the TASP students on College Confidential can speak to that.

However, it is tough to get into (very tough), but if you can get in, it is truly an honor.

It is definitely prestigious. But also incredibly difficult to get into, so have some fallback programs on your list (including a true “safety” or two). Just the application process is a good experience even if you don’t get in.

As a TASP alum, I can attest to the prestige and selectivity of the program.
But, not a lot of people except top of the top colleges’ committees will recognize it, and TASP isnt a guarantee pathway to the Ivies. This past year’s experience taught me that. There are TASPers from my TASP who did not make the Ivies although being extremely intelligent and worldly. All you are guaranteed is the best social
time of your life ( up to now) and a community/ connections that last during and at last several years after the end.

Btw theres no Stanford or John Hopkin sessions simply because Telluride isnt based in either of those areas. Have you done your research right?

Hey Guys~!

I wanna be an aerospace engineer in the future and
I was just wondering what kind of summer programs would be benefit to me.
BTW I am currently a sophomore.
I am looking at the embry riddle summer program - aerospace I
Is it worth it in terms of money and so on??

You should start a new thread with this question, it is not on topic for this one. You can see a button called “New Thread” at the top of the list of threads in the “Summer Programs” section that this is in.

I’m sorry, I have been doing my research and the locations, at least this year, are Cornell and Michigan. I was looking at another program based at Stanford and John Hopkins and mixed them up for a moment.

But thanks for the opinions everyone, I definitely think I will be applying for this in the near future. And I know it’s not a sure fire way into the ivys, but I think it’ll just be a great experiance and that’s mainly why I want to do it, even though im well aware it’s hard to get into.

Just so you have some backup options… because it is actually harder to get into (statistically) than any Ivy. And you are competing against almost all kids who will be National Merit Finalists (postcard about the program goes out to everyone scoring very high on the PSAT inviting them to apply). It is crazy competive, so honestly do NOT go into it with a strong expectation that you will be accepted. Put at least as much energy into other program applications, and have at least one pretty sure bet in mind/on your list.

I got rejected last year.

I’ll probably remember years from now that I got rejected from TASP. :P

But yeah, it’s harder to get into TASP than it is to get into Harvard. You basically need to be the best thing since white rice.

White rice isn’t so great. Sliced bread, on the other hand…

Potato chips > White Rice > Sliced Bread
