Just got my letter today saying I was accepted to go, and I'm pretty excited about it :D

Has anyone else gotten a reply yet?

Same! I got mine two days ago, I can’t wait!! This is the only way I could’ve gone to visit their campus, I’m so thrilled. Can’t wait to finally know what they mean about the delicious Malt-O-Meal smell. :P

Do you by any chance know in what halls they usually have us prospies stay at during overnight visits?

Woo! someone else is going too! I was starting to think I was alone in this haha
I’m not even sure what Malt-O-Meal is, but I guess I’ll find out!

But I really have no idea what dorms they put us in. My best guess is that we stay in whatever dorm our host is in

Haha, I believe it’s this delicious smell that comes from the Malt-O-Meal cereal factory near Carleton.
I remember seeing a thread from last year’s Taste of Carleton students: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/carleton-college/992418-taste-carleton-d.html

Aaah, I’m so happy! :D

The smell reminds me of puppy chow…the kind with crispix cereal covered in chocolate, peanut butter, and powdered sugar.

When the wind blows in the other direction, however, it’s quite a different story. But you’ll find out when you get here.

CandlesOnFire, you’ll probably stay in any of the dorms, barring Memo and Evans. Host students are usually freshman and sophomore volunteers. I’d chance a guess that you’re most likely to end up in Goodhue, Musser, or Myers, but a lot of prospies end up in Burton, Nourse, and (to a lesser extent) Cassat and Davis. You may get a host in Evans or Memorial, but it’s pretty unlikely.

Well now I’m even more stoked about this visit! I just got my flight confirmations today :)

I’m really excited to possibly meet those of you who have posted here, and many others!

On average, about how many people attend TOC?

Puppy chow? See, this is why I wish sometimes I’d had a dog. And I’m not sure I want to know what happens when the wind blows the other way, you sounded quite ominous, mflevity :o
Thanks reesez, I’ll look more into those particular dorms.
I think around 40-50ish people go each year, I feel like I read that somewhere.

There’s also an FB group for Taste of Carleton 2011!

Hello!

I’m also going to TOC

I sent in my response just this week, so no flight confirmation but hopefully soon…

I can’t wait to visit!

Malt-O-Meal just smells like freshly baked cookies… it’s delicious.

Hi Zadrii, glad to hear that!! No worries, I only just got my flight confirmation today. :)

Malt O’Meal AND the Dacie Moses house? This is gonna be absolute heaven.
