Tattoos

Anybody a fan? Where do you think is the best place for a guy to get a tattoo and still have it be pretty classy. Shoulder? Arm? Ankle? Back?

the shoulder blade is okay. the ankle or forearm is just plain white trash. arm might be okay as long as it isnt some dumb tribal band or barbed wire.

It depends totally on the tattooo.... if the tattoo is poorly done and was a "drunk effect" then it doesn't matter where it is... it sucks... if the tattoo has meaning, and is done well, put it anywhere (save the forehead or facial area) and you're good to go... IMHO.

keep it somewhere so if you want to go to work it isnt visible. cause odds are they won't hire you. yea like griff said get one with meaning. and dont get a a ton of them.

never get a tat on your legs or ankles. very white trash I think. Symetrically on the back always looks good but it has to be big enough to fit the space. I know a guy with a giant Eagle across his shoulders that reaches mid back and it's kinda insanely sexy. When I was like 3 my babysitter's son who was like 25 had a giant tat that looked like a tiger climbing down his back with some characters also VERY hot. Plus back tats can be easily covered when wearing a suit or polo or any type of formalesque work wear.

Well, if you are going to get Chinese/Japanese characters, or anything in a language that you, personally, do not speak, be VERY VERY careful.

Yep, don't put your tattoo where it'll be visible in a professional work environment. Plus it sucks to have to wear long sleeves during the summer.

Before you choose an artist, research the artist, check out their porfolios, etc. Go for quality rather than saving a few bucks. Fly out of your state if you have to.

Because it'll be permanent, make sure you get something that you like. Think on it for weeks or months if you have too. I took an art class and found out that I really don't like warm, vibrant colors like red, yellow, and orange. Now I'm thinking about removing my red tattoo in the future and redo it with cool, relaxed colors like blue and green. And don't get too many small pieces at once. Chances are that you'll want to redo or remove some of them later on.

I love tattoos...I love interesting, well-done tattoos. They are nice.

For men, I like tattoos on chests, backs, shoulders, and forearms the most. However, you should consider what career you are going into and where you plan on living. A lot of people aren't going to care either way. I live in the south and I see tattoos constantly on all sorts of people. My cat's vet has a rainbow triangle on her wrist that is always out in the open (oddly enough...for the bible belt). It just depends on how comfortable you are with people seeing it. I think all of my future tattoos will be just as hidden as my current one....but I may change my mind.

I am a girl...and I have one tattoo right now. It is a hibiscus on the dip of my side. It's kind of my ribs and below, right where my waist goes in then out to my hips. It hurt like hell, but I love it. I would recommend it to girls if you can take a LOT of pain. I am really happy with it, though. You can find a picture of it by clicking on my homepage button...

p.s.

It's not as big as it looks in the picture. I am a very tiny person. I don't even weight 90 pounds. haha. It looks huge, but in person, it isn't doesn't seem that big.

Depending where you live, there are new tattoos out, that are compleatly invisible, and when you go to a club with black lights, they glow. <a href="http://www.bmezine.com/tattoo/uv007.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.bmezine.com/tattoo/uv007.html</a></p>

I don't understand the whole, "watch where you put it, people won't hire you!" thing. Outside of perhaps your face, if you choose to work in a "professional" enviorment, nothing besids your neck, hands and face will be exposed anyway. No, your boss won't see those flame sleeves on your arms, that tiger that covers 80% of your leg or the stupid designs chicks have on the crack of their bums.

Don't hesitate to get a tattoo because you think you won't get hired, thats just stupid.

About invisible tattoos...yea, that's perhaps the biggest waste of time, money and effort I've ever heard unless of course blacklights become the new form of light. Getting a tattoo JUST to go to a club??? Hilarious.

Well, I think there is about 1 club in Maine so I can see why your confused. After your 20's if the tattoo isnt a RIP, its useless. So why not? Go to a big city where clubs ARE the night life. Maybe you wont make such stupid rationalized comments.

Speaking of stupid statements, thanks for thinking you know a lot about me, I am honored by your obsession. Just because I live in Maine doesn't mean I'm from or even spend a lot of time here. Might want to do a google search on "Springfield Mass" or "Boston Mass" and tell me how many clubs are in those cities, because I wouldn't know of course.

Don't get one. You could use that cash elsewhere and you'll probably get sick of that tattoo anyway some day.

Electrical engineers are able to take advantage of a relaxed dress code. I would imagine computer programmers can also.

Hate to break it to you, but as an adult who has been in the workforce for several years now, it usually DOES indeed matter whether or not tats can be seen in the workplace (unless you work in certain types of jobs -- like a tattoo shop :-) -- or in some eclectic artisan atmosphere). I personally know of women who weren't hired to work in my company because of the tats they sported on their legs, hands or necks when they came to apply for a job or interview. Like it or not, there is a sort of prejudice in most workplaces when it comes to tattoos. Same goes for piercings. Choose your tattoo locations wisely.

Shoulder blade

Tattoos are disgusting body mutilation and the biggest turn off EVER.

Chicks with full sleeves tattoos turn me ON. :)

Mutilation? More like customization.
