Do all colleges require you to submit your tax return forms? or only certain specific colleges ask for these forms? Of the colleges I applied to, only 2 use IDOC and others have their own cover form, but other colleges don't even mention tax return forms/w-2 forms on their financial aid website. So I just want to make sure not all schools want these form?

Can anyone give me some input on this?
Thanks

thnx meg. im was confused because my friend said he was submitting his tax return/w-2s forms for this one school but when i was on their website it didnt mention anything about submitting submitting tax returns/w-2s…

Does anyone know if there is a list online that says what schools require tax returns/w-2s to be submitted?

Lorenzo. Some schoools only need the FAFSA. Some private shcools and a few public ones want FAFSA and CSS. Out of the ones that want the CSS, a subset wants tax and other forms mailed in to IDOC. There may also be schools that dont use CSS?IDOC, and want you to send the info to them directly. For schools that use CSS, see the Collegeboard CSS website and they have a list of schools that use CSS and also the schools that require the IDOC. Good luck!

Also, some applicants are selected for “verification” and are requested by the schools to submit the documentation. It has something to do with a federal requirement that they verify a certain % of their applications.

OP, you might want to ask your friend why he submitted the tax returns and W-2s for the school. Did the school contact him? Where did he see the information? This is a very confusing process. My daughter applied to 15 schools; some use IDOC; some don’t but still want the tax forms. Some only want the tax forms if they request them directly, either now or after acceptance.

of the schools i applied 2, only 2 used IDOC and a few requested for them directly and the rest didnt say anything. Just wanted to make sure i wasn’t doing anything wrong. I think my friend only has to submit his because he got accepted ED.
