when are you going to college? If sept 2015, you use the information on their 2014 tax return.
Are you saying they didn’t FILE a tax return…because if that is the case…that could cause you issues.
It sounds like your parents did file taxes, but your stepdad included (maybe) his children, but his exwife already claimed those kids, so the IRS has sent a letter removing those people from his deductions, and therefore he owes more in taxes.
I don’t see how that will prevent filing FAFSA. The AGI would still be the same.
