TCNJ Class of 2023 RD

@Sparcky Are you guys from out of state?

@ktaveras468 No, we are NJ residents.

@Sparcky any insight on the honors program and dorms from your visit? My son said he doesn’t think he would want honors housing, would rather be in regular housing, but aspects of the honors program are interesting.

@emeltr They do not show the dorms on regular day tours. I have seen rooms in the towers at a couple open houses I’ve been to. I haven’t seen a room in Centennial, where the honors students live. I feel that part of college life is surviving a year (or two!) in a traditional hall-style dorm - sure makes you appreciate home and upper class housing. But the towers are definitely not the nicest dorms I’ve ever seen. Standard cinder block rooms, decent size, but showing their age. They are due to be renovated. In the past couple years they did at least get wifi (the senior I know didn’t have wifi there). It’s my understanding that Centennial is similar to the towers but somewhat nicer and more recently renovated. My son will definitely want to live there if he attends TCNJ, so I don’t remember whether it’s a choice at TCNJ or if all honors students live there.
The honors program seemed pretty standard - replace some of the core curriculum with honors sections, can upgrade a regular class to an honors class with an ‘add on’ assignment, some priority perks, etc. The tour guide is in the program and she likes it.

I believe that the honors college will no by living in Norsworthy, at least that is what the acceptance email said.

@Jrsygrl23 Only my son saw the email, so I wasn’t aware of that. And apparently neither were our tour guides as they didn’t mention it either. At any rate, it’s not the towers.

Towers vs Honors: In either case, you are put in rooms near the students you are taking your FSP with.

My DD opted for honors housing as she thought it would be a bit more “calm” and the students were a little more focused. Someone else might prefer being around more students in the towers.

Got an email today saying that I got in as a nursing Major! Does anyone have insight into which has a better nursing program- TCNJ or Seton Hall?

Tcnj, Ramapo, Stockton and Rutgers are far and away the best nursing programs in the state right now with Ramapo and TCNJ leading the way. Why in the world would you pay thousands more to attend Seton Hall???

Does anybody know when the next wave of decisions will be coming out?

has anyone gotten their financial aid award letter yet? I received $5K annual merit, but do not know about need based aid.

SPA2100, are you instate? Can you post your stats just for comparison?

Called TCNJ Admissions today, they will be showing all dorm facilities on April 6 Accepted Students Day, including Norsworthy (which will house Honors for 2019-2020.)

do you know when admission decisions are coming out?

@SPA2100 financial aid letters posted on PAWS today. Ours were, so worth checking. Emails were sent to students.

Do you know the link. I got the email. But couldn’t find how to login

See if you received an email about a PAWS account being created for you. My daughters received it about a week after they were accepted. To log in to PAWS you have to create an account and that email provides the instructions. Once on PAWS you can accept or decline, pay deposit and see your financial aid info as well.

@njtwinmom yes, I saw the letter. thank you.

@nymigny yes, of course! I am instate, and have a 1460 SAT and 96 W GPA. accepted to Business School and Honors Program. very excited!

@spa2100 Congrats!
