I'm kind of worried because my friends got invited and I did not.....anyone know the minimum stats that you needed to receive an invitation from them? It just doesn't make much sense because on the website, it says you need 1300 composite of a 30 on the act, and be in the top 15 percent of your class. i definitely meet those qualifications, and received 40k in scholarship money, but no invitation...anyone know why?

a 1300 composite SAT OR a 30 on the ACT

It may have something to do with your major. From what I’ve seen on this forum, biology is a VERY competitive major. Is that your major, by chance?

On the other hand, from everything I’ve read, the Honor’s Program at TCNJ doesn’t offer too much more than bragging rights. If it was a large University (like Rutgers) I would say it’s worth it for the smaller classes and more individual attention from profs. But at TCNJ, the classes are much smaller to begin with.

Students in the Honor’s Program are required to take 4 (I think) extra courses. From everything I’ve read on the website and from comments in this forum, it doesn’t really offer any other advantages or perks.

Just my 2 cents.

you received 40K in scholarship money?? wow!

I wouldn’t worry about the honors program too much… you get no privileges outside of extra requirements and (generally) having to live in cromwell freshman year.

The College of New Jersey accepts incoming students to the Honors Program during the
freshman admissions process. Many factors are taken under consideration including
scores on standardized tests, rank, and major. Although there may be students who receive automatic
admissions to the Honors Program, typically the Office of Admissions will forward a list of
potential candidates to the Honors office for consideration. On average, these applicants have
SAT scores ranging from 1300 or higher on the Critical Reading and Math portions and are in
the top 15% of their graduating high school class. An invitation to apply will be mailed in the spring to
admitted students who have the above criteria and who have shown interest in diverse areas
of study. Final admissions decisions will be made in April.

I’m in the honors program now, although I was not accepted right away. I received a short application (I think in February) and applied that way, so don’t worry if you didn’t get automatically accepted.
