TCNJ & Lions Pride Need-Based Scholarships: How does an average applicant get?

Thank you, @NJRoadie for attempting to explain the challenges faced by low income people. Yours must be an interesting vantage point.

Coffee-and-cramming (the OP) and Ladygriff will have to review their financial aid packages with their families to determine whether or not the school is affordable for them. If either can commute or lesson costs by choosing a more economical dorm and meal plan, maybe it will be affordable.

Outfitting a dorm room is the least of their worries. What they can’t take from home they can pick up cheaply at a Goodwill or Salvation Army.

Yes @NJRoadie, I do. We are. Don’t assume a $0 EFC equals people without any financial sense.

It is an interesting vantage point - my foster son is a Gates Millennium Scholar as well as a Horatio Alger Scholar, so I’ve seen more than my fair share, but thanks for your insight.

Quick update–I’ve also gotten a $10,000 scholarship from a local foundation. Still plan to work but I’m in a much better position than I was earlier this year. I was stressing a lot and looks like I’m totally covered for this year other than personal items. Time to start on next year.
