[] Teacher Recommendation: I’m pretty sure they were good. One of the teachers I had for two years and really liked me. The other one I also had for two years, and she was indebted to me for being one the few people left on the yearbook staff at the end of last year.

[/ul]General Comments:

I’m really happy to get in and to hear early from TCNJ! I was hoping I wouldn’t have to wait until the end of March. Got a scholarship too. It’s definitely one of my top three choices. The fact that they have a Harry Potter club and Quidditch team, both named The Order of the Nose-Biting Teacups, gives them a major edge :stuck_out_tongue: Nah, in all seriousness, I wouldn’t choose a school based on that, but it’s something to consider, yeah? Tells you a lot about the kind of people that go there. Congrats to everyone on their acceptances!

I hate to be the first non-accepted responder, but I’m wondering after looking at those who have responded whether TCNJ has only taken the cream of the crop in the “first wave”? My SAT’s( 2160 )are not shabby but nowhere near the lofty numbers of the posters that were accepted. My 3.41 unweighted GPA is somewhat low but I’ve had a lot of honors and AP courses. EC’s are average as well as having decent recommendations. I’m instate and not a criminal. I visited TCNJ three times including the Scholars Luncheon, which I assume they invited me to because they thought I’d be a desirable applicant. My school doesn’t rank but I probably wouldn’t be that high anyway since everybody gets B’s or higher in the school. Anyone have any thoughts about my assessment of the acceptance process or why I might have been shoved into the “second review”?

Congratulations to everyone! Who else is planning on going to Accepted Students Day?

KandK,

Did you actually receive a letter from TCNJ saying you were deferred? Or are you assuming this because you did not receive your letter?

We only received my son’s acceptance letter yesterday (Saturday). It’s entirely possible that yours will be in the next mail delivery (which, unfortunately, is not until Tuesday).

Otherwise, your SAT’s and other credentials look like you are an excellent candidate for TCNJ to me. Hang in there and best of luck!

I received an email saying: you’re not on the waiting list but you’re application has been held for “second review”. The letter was very nice but the bottom line is that I wasn’t offered admission. I was assured I would hear before April 1 but not how much before. They must really be getting some great applicants this year. It makes me want to attend even more! I have my fingers crossed. Thanks Shamrock. Sorry I interrupted you’re mutual admiration thread Feareman. Isn’t there a specific thread for your question? Only kidding.

Decision: Accepted

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: Hooks, rec letters, involvement in extracurriculars, and my course load.
[] Weaknesses: SATs and GPA
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I think the two things that helped me out were the fact that my school sends a lot of students there each year (I was one out of 6 who were accepted this weekend) and also that I went to visit the school for their Salute to Academic Achievers- Multicultural Student Reception, which I believe showed my interest in the school.
[/ul]General Comments: Also, I forgot to mention I was admitted with the Chairman of the Board Scholarship as well. Congratulations to everyone else who got in

[ /list][ b]Reflection[ /b][ list]
[ *] Strengths: my extra curriculars, my essay, and the fact that its a “magnet” school and all classes offered are honors level.
[ *] Weaknesses: i guess my sat scores. when i added up my superscore and saw that i got a 1900 i thought it was excellent but i guess compared to most people on here its just average :stuck_out_tongue: Also, I only took 3 AP classes throughout highschool. however, we werent allowed to start taking them til junior year (and we were only allowed to choose 1), so it kinda wasnt my fault.
[ *] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: cause it was fate  lol
[ /list][ b]General Comments:[ /b]
Don’t automatically think that just because your SATs arent in the 2000s range that you wont get in. I think I’m living proof that colleges are telling the truth when they say “it’s not all about the numbers and scores” good luck to everybody

of course it didnt space right -_- ^ ugh

I’m probably going to accepted students day. I’m waiting to hear from NYU, but I’m kind of expecting no money for their $50,000 a year, and TCNJ is giving me $5000 for their $20000 a year? Not too bad lol.
I have a few friends being held under 2nd review who are higher ranked then me in my school and I’m not sure about their SAT’s, but I don’t understand why they were put under 2nd review. Even if their SAT’s were lower then mine, it wouldn’t be by much.

Next wave of decisions seem to be out. Check your status page!

For those who have already received your admission decisions, did you first find out through Paws or the mailing?

Thanks for any help

PAWS. But, no financial aid information.

Second waive is out. I was Second Review and was just admitted. Checked PAWS and hit accept admission and admission decision was there.

I can’t take this suspense. I was second review but don’t see any change in my admission status. Does this mean I’m out? Am I in the “Third Wave”? If I can ask Marotta and wiiuser(I have a Wii too) SAT’s anbd GPA. I thought my 1380 SAT even with a weak 3.45 GPA would have gotten me in. Looks like Rutgers or NJIT for me. *&$%%.

I have 1540 SAT and 3.9 W GPA
