@LWHGamer - no he did not apply ED. He applied to about 10 schools as Nursing is extremely competitive, RD to TCNJ
Did anyone else get a decision from TCNJ in the mail
Still waiting. I think they send out OOS first.
No mail yet for NJ twins, applied RD.
Nothing yet, in-state, applied regular decision…app and materials sent 10/24/2017
Don’t bank on any merit scholarship unless your parents are broke or you’re a minority. Your hard work in high school won’t matter a bit. Admissions office supposed to make a great first impression, not so much, got to deal with a counselor that just graduated college and had no clue about anything. not impressed with this school at all. They’re more interested in giving “discounts” (that’s all it is), to out of state students then to retain their own residents. can’t wait for my kid to leave this awful school.
@thumbsdown MERIT scholarships have nothing to do with finances or race and EVERYTHING to do with hard work in school and TCNJ does offer them. I received one in 2016 but attended elsewhere. I am white and upper middle class.
TCNJ’s merit scholarships for instate students only go up to $6,000 though.
@jnkam24 Right that’s what it’s supposed to be. My kid has put in the hard work too, they’re assuming his class rank against a previous class, That doesn’t makes sense when everything else is there, like GPA and SAT.
@thumbsdown Are you willing to share SAT and GPA information and ECs/community service/leadership. That could be helpful.
TCNJ Admission’s told me they want to see at least a 1360 for merit scholarship consideration, which is higher than what is stated on their website. They also weigh extra-curricular involvement and community service, so even a high stat applicant might not get merit if they are not impressed with that part of an application.
@acceptme2022 I’m very interested in hearing merit decisions this admission cycle. The website still says $6,000 but when we visited, I thought I heard an admission rep say $8,000.
@MACmiracle yes, he met the 1360
@thumbsdown Are there any areas of concern that prospective students and their parents should be aware of?
Do keep in mind that the list price is 50% of Private Schools
My friend who is also applying to TCNJ got an email saying that the Biology acceptance rate decreased to 20%. Did anyone else recieved this email.
I got it for compsci and they gave me the option to be considered for a different major (which I’m not taking)
I also applied as a Biology major, but I didn’t receive that email. There was also an email sent out to some girls about applying to WILL, which I didn’t receive either. So either they don’t have my email or I’m being excluded lol
My email said that they were only giving a few students the option to switch major, so I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing…The end of the email also said something along the lines of “if you already committed to another school, tell us so we can give the major change option to another student” so they’re actually only doing this for a limited number
@booper you get what you pay for
Has anyone seen their acceptance package? A piece of paper inside a folder. A 2 year old could have made the package more exciting. Again, all signs that indicate what kind of college they are. A college’s admission office is supposed to be the front line the first impression of the college; they are staffed with college students who just graduated, they are dressed like they are ready to go to the club, give contradictory information, just a bad experimence all around. Good luck to everyone, wishing you all the best, I’m cutting my losses before I spend more time, effort or money.
