TCNJ vs. Drew vs. Ramapo

Hi,

I am currently a sophomore at Pace NYC and am looking to transfer out after this year. I’m from NJ and would like to go back; I love the city but not the people and Pace is not all it seems to be. Right now I am a double major and would be graduating with a masters in education and bachelors in english, I would like to attend somewhere with the same program. Does anyone know anything about TCNJ, Drew, or Ramapo? How do they compare to each other and does anyone know how they take transfer credits? I will have about 60 credits to transfer over and really don’t want to lose them.

Thanks!!

@tk1010 TCNJ is in another league. Drew and Ramapo are very easy to get into.

TCNJ has become extremely selective. You may want to look into Rutgers and Rowan as well.

TCNJ = top-level college, will require a high GPA, excellent all-around.
Drew= very strong but easier to get into than TCNJ.
Ramapo = easy to get into.
So, you have a reach, a match, and a safety, provided you have a decent GPA.
Add Rutgers and Rowan indeed for another match and another safety for English/education; Montclair State would be another safety.

i think TCNJ would be quite a step up from Pace and quite challenging.

TCNJ would indeed be excellent; given the chance, it’s one of the VERY few NJ schools I would have considered picking. But why do you want to go back to NJ?

TCNJ is rising, & a good school. Definitely a step up from Pace.

Ramapo isn’t hard to get into. I’m not sure you’d like the students, if you don’t like NYC’s people. I’ve heard from several students it’s very preppy/upper-class. It’s not terribly expensive.

Drew isn’t hard to get into, either. But, it’s VERY pricey, 61K in state! I’m eligible for 31K in scholarships, with only a 3.3. With this aid, it’s much more reasonable.

@stones3 I’m not really worried about that considering I only chose Pace for the location (stupid, stupid mistake) and have been accepted to better schools.

@LBad96 I have lived in NJ my whole life and I just don’t see me ever being happy in NYC. I know change is good but I tried it and decided I will do much better in NJ for the time being.

Thank you everyone for your responses! Definitely helped a little.
