TCU to UT/A&M Transfer?

I am currently a freshman and Texas Christian University and not exactly loving it. I am also an engineering major, probably will go into mechanical if I stick with TCU. Originally I was interested in petroleum, but this is not offered at TCU. The engineering program and super small which is one of the things that prompted me to think about transferring. I am in the process of applying to University of Texas and Texas A&M. Both have much better engineering programs but are also much larger.

I am still on edge about transferring, partially just because starting over is a scary thought. I know TCU is a decent school and getting more and more selective, so I am confused about what to do.

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

There’s no comparison. If you want an engineering degree, go to UT. The best public option in Texas.

Yes, UT is great but I wouldn’t say A&M is any worse. As far as money goes, A&M is the better option but I would visit both engineering departments to see which you like better.

I would not stay at TCU. They are not know for engineering at all. And as far as becoming more competitive, they are far from high status for now.
