Teach For America 2014 Corps

@Somanybanelings I put MD, Charlotte, LA, ATL METRO what about you?

Agh, I feel like I’m feeling less confident by the hour. And there are still 8 days left of waiting. This is rough!

Me too, elemteacher! I suppose we shouldn’t lose hope yet, though. I’ve been going back through old threads and it does seem like there’s no rhyme/reason to when TF statuses changed, so you never know…there’s definitely still time and many of ours have not changed yet.

Question for those who applied for TF: Is there an N/A or anything next to your documents needed, or is it blank?

Mine is blank. What about you?

I interviewed a week ago today and submitted my TF last Thursday. Today I received an email saying I needed to upload more documents. I uploaded my financial aid information and this is what my screen says after clicking View Transitional Funding
Status:

Transitional Funding Application Status: Under Review

Blah, blah, blah, tax return: YES

Documentation blah, blah, financial aid: NO

I’m assuming when they review my recent upload NO will turn to YES.

Is everyone having their documents verified?

Good luck to everyone! Yesterday I told myself I wouldn’t post on here. Now i’m obsessing with everyone else and saved this and TFA as icons on my desktop!

Mine is blank too. I may be way overanalyzing, but I noticed that some people last year whose status changed to Complete later said that they had N/A next to their documents. It’s worrying me that there’s nothing at all.

I need to go get my work done and stop stalking discussion boards…

@teachtoreach - hey sorry for the late response. I just applied to Southern states (TX, AZ, AL). While I’d like to go to the East/West Coast the cost is prohibitively expensive at this point :(

@SeNoritaTFA - whenever you hear back let us know! I was in your exact situation and uploaded a few documents. Mine are all “YES” but still haven’t changed from “UNDER REVIEW.” Maybe things will be different for you since a few others before mentioned changing to “COMPLETE.” My application is acting strangely though… :/

@elemteacher - They had “NA” next to their documents??!?!?! Now I’m very worried! I read others post that they were finally changed to “COMPLETE” on the final notification date and prior to that was “YES”/“UNDER REVIEW.” Unfortunately there’s just too much variability here.

@somanybanelings: Well, yours at least say “YES” which I think is good! From what I’m gathering, having nothing there at all is what’s worrying me. I’m guessing the “N/A” appeared for people whose TF needed to be reviewed, but they had just not gotten to it yet. I don’t know, though. We should probably stop worrying about this - it’s causing too much extra stress! Haha

(I say as I cause everyone more stress with my theories.)

I’ll stop now, promise :)

@elemteacher I totally know what you mean! We have 8 days left of this and it’s KILLING me. My housemates are so sick of hearing about TFA, haha. So thank goodness for this board, because it’s keeping me sane! Tomorrow, it will be a week to the day! On another note, does any one else think it’s strange that TFA still changes TF status prior to notification day, even though they are aware that it’s a dead giveaway!? Just a thought, lol. Best of luck to everyone! Stay positive!

@DianaDiamond, Maybe they just can’t stop themselves. So they tell everyone not to bother checking because it won’t change until notification day. It could be that they are always watching and are enjoying manipulating us so cruelly. It could be that those of us on this board are a relatively small subset of the 50,000 applicants and so we “know” because we are over-analyzing internet stalkers, but the majority of the applicant pool is not aware of this thing.

@Tinitafish Hahahah I’m going to go with the last one there.

@tinitafish HAH i’m going to agree with you. stalking these boards has made me crazy.

Hey guys!

I applied to the 2014 Corps through the junior deadline last spring and was accepted. I remember the feeling of waiting and it was terrible (and our wait was only one week compared to 2+). I found out my regional placement in May (San Antonio), but will find out my subject placement with you guys on October 31 even though I am 99% sure of my subject placement.

Before on the applicant center I was able to see the accepted page, but now when I log in it takes me back to how it looked before I had a phone interview (i.e.- decide who will be your recommenders and learn the process of getting a transcript if you are invited to a final interview). Anyone else from the junior deadline on here and in the same situation? I’m sure it’s probably just that they are switching the accepted applicant page over to represent 2014 information since before it had all the information for 2013, but it is strange.

Anyway, good luck to everyone! Try to relax this week and not let the stress get to you… you have all done the best you can up to this point and it’s out of your control now!

@marleigh27 thanks for weighing in! I think we’re all too deep in the rabbit hole not to be concerned lol. Any thoughts on our TF discussion? Did you have an instance as well where document statuses were inconsistent with overall TF status?

Actually we were not able to apply for transitional funding last year, so we did not even have that to obsess over! Once we were accepted it said that we would be able to apply for transitional funding in October, but my transitional funding never changed from that message and now I can’t even see that message anymore

Here is a quick questions for those further along in the process than me. Are you able to submit more than 2 people as recommenders? Like maybe add a 3rd in case one doesn’t fill out the recommender form? The two people I have asked agreed to do it but they keep pretty busy schedules plus its getting into the holiday season and im afraid an email for an evaluation might slip one of their minds…which obviously if i cant get 2 ppl to fill out the form i wont make it in. nervoussss! lol

@ gar6612 I don’t think they let you submit three names. You get two recommenders and one reference. I was just as concerned as you about the busyness of my recommenders, so I made sure to remind them every week! It was probably annoying for them but at least I didn’t have to worry about missing the deadline!

Hello everyone!

@dianadiamond I honestly think they tell us the 31st so they won’t get tons of emails asking why haven’t there Status change. They are giving themselves as much time as possible to complete the task. It’s like my cleaners they tell me after 5pm the next day but I know my garments will be ready by noon. Haha In other words their covering their rear ends in the event of unforeseen circumstances.

@gar66125 to my knowledge you can only submit 2 recommenders and 1 one reference. I was a bit worried about mine being submitted also with busy schedules, for this reason I submitted names of individuals who I have frequent contact with. Luckily for me both if my recommenders submitted their forms within a day or so after receiving the email. Just select people who you know understand the magnitude of submitting by the deadline, and also someone who won’t mind a “courtesy reminder email”. I wish you lick!

This post has definitely picked up in the last day or so there are so many post I can’t barely keep up ha. I do enjoy all the theories and conclusions they you guys come up with. I know I have my own and sharing them with others definitely helps. I however will admit I’m not as anxious as I thought I’d be I’m more so ready for it to be over. I’ve managed to forget about my interview with the understanding I can’t go back and do it over. What bothers me is I can’t find logic in everything that TFA does lol Yes I won’t to find direct correlation with everything and I haven’t been able to do so.

This TF is one of them. Some people has changed. Im one of them but I feel no better now than I feel before the change. With the change comes more questions. From previous threads 2012/2013 I’ve only found one person to have their status changed but was not accepted, however just as all post I don’t know if there was any truth I just give everyone a fair chance as I do with all post.

At this point with out without the status change its still fair running. I wish you all luck and keep the post coming…I will see you all at the finish line!

Question: Have you guys heard of anyone from DL1 every getting waitlisted. I could not deal with any longer wait…:(

@elemteacher–I can definitely understand how you’re feeling, my TF status still reads Under Review and that my application and documents have not yet been reviewed. Hopefully we’ll get updates tomorrow!

Anyone else that still has no updates on their TF status?
