Teach For America 2014 Corps

I don’t remember where I saw it at- but somewhere it said they are not expecting a wait list at all this year

I am glad to see so many people joined the webinar and asked a lot of useful questions.

@needtoteach I heard that as well but i can’t help but be very nervous lol My last name starts with an L so I won’t know until after you guys lol but keep me updated yeah? I want to know what is going to happen with the TF status… I am not going to raise my hope up if my TF status change to complete though because I lurked through this thread before and some people’s TF status changed to complete and they still got rejected. At least its only going to be around 9 more days before we find out the result.

I was in the webinar as well! It was very informative and calmed many of my nerves! lol I was very leery about the interviewing with the individual schools in our assigned region after placement. But the chances of not being hired at all at that point are slim to none.

@natgeowild good question! thanks for asking it!

I was glad to hear her say that TF status and regional placement didn’t influence acceptance.

@cicerocalliope haha i asked that question lol I was really worried that it might influence the acceptance somehow so I asked :stuck_out_tongue: Good thing it does not lol

@kv4life -Great Job! :)

Hey all, I was accepted in the 1/2 DL. With regard to TF status… Your TF application had no bearing on your admissions decision. TFA repeatedly states that information. Your TF status can serve as an early indicator for acceptance. If you’re staid page shows a change from under review to complete it is likely you were accepted. There did not seem to be any rhyme or reason to the order of verification and people saw changes up until the afternoon of notification day. Everyone who was accepted and had a complete prior to notification day had their TF status change back to under review just before notification day and then back to complete on the day. Hope that helps clear up some confusion!

I’m still confused on the TF haha

I interviewed on Wednesday February 26. I received an email at 1pm yesterday (Monday Mar 3rd) stating this:
“We have reviewed your transitional grants and loans application and supporting documents but will need more information before we are able to give you an award offer.” The last line also indicated that I needed to make sure I had these documents sent in by a specific date “in order for us to be able to offer you an award package.”

That was the first line (and the last line) of the email, and I had a few things I needed to resubmit for clarity. I submitted the required documentation earlier today. I also received the Final Interview survey. I have not completed it, yet.

I noticed in the 2013 Corps thread (and earlier posts in this thread) that Transitional Funding application statuses do correlate well with acceptances. However, I am not holding my breath. If anything else changes, I will be sure to update accordingly. Some asked if perhaps they went in alphabetical order. My last name begins with H, just in case anyone is wondering.

Good luck to all. Just 9 more days!

@hallas well that sucks to read, now I feel like I got rejected lol

congrats on getting a possible sign

That’s awesome @hallas I have gotten the final interview survey and participated in the webinar, however, still no change for me in the TF status.

Wow @hallas , I would be so excited if I were you! @Afradett91 and everyone else, still no TF status change for me either. Anyone else notice any changes?

It is kind of exciting, but like I said, I am not holding my breath. :stuck_out_tongue: A lot of things can change between now and the 13th! Also, there are too many people that haven’t had a change, so I am sure there will be more changes to come during the week.

Also, the reason most people think that TF status correlates with an acceptance is that it would be pretty inefficient for them to prepare grants and things like that for people that are not accepted.

Also, I do not want to make those that have not seen a change more anxious than you already are. I also do not want you to feel down and think you are rejected. Obviously they are working on the TF and applications this week! Keep your head up! Thanks for the positive vibes, sending you all positive vibes, as well!

I’m wondering how potential expansion regions are working out…I preferenced Central Florida but I’m not sure if it’ll be open for the 2014 Corp…

I think that was also addressed in the webinar last night, @teachprayteach. IIRC the Admissions Coordinator said 2015.

@hallas Curious, what does your last name start with?

@hallas Sorry, i just re-read post and realized you already answered this. Either it doesn’t go in alphabetical order or this is a sign of rejection. Hope it is just the former

@needtoteach Don’t get discouraged! They’ve still got 9 days to get to you!

I don’t think they go in alphabetical order because all final interview applicants submitted their TF applications in at different times. They probably reviewed them as the TF paperwork is submitted. Putting all applicants in alphabetical order is too time consuming and then reviewing TF paperwork. In some cases some applicants receive notification early probably based on how early or quickly they submitted it.

Let’s not be discouraged. Let’s be positive and hope for the best. Those of you who are seeing your statuses change…that is great and keep us posted because it does give us continued hope.
