Just wanted to share this from the admissions blog in case anyone didn’t see it: “This time can be filled with anticipation, excitement, and a little anxiety.”

To continue a question that @Teachtoreach asked: do y’all think that people from 1DL and 2DL get waitlisted, or is that more for people in the later deadlines?

@jazzcatastrophe ha well there you have it!

I think the waitlist is for later deadlines, but I’m not positive on that one. This anxiety is killing me. Regardless of what people said about when you interviewed/submitted your documents and a correlation between TF status, from looking at last years thread and so far this years, it seems there is. And I am even more paranoid since I interviewed on the 14th, the first day. I submitted my documents on the 13th, then got the email about the 2012/2013 fafsa and resubmitted the one on the 19th.

There is no N/A or Yes next to the verification of my documents, just blank. I agree that they wouldn’t waste resources building financial aid packages for people who weren’t accepted; TFA is far too organized for that. So if there is no sign at all that my TF has been looked at - I’m taking it as bad news. Sorry I’m being so pessimistic! I’m super optimistic for the rest of you though haha. It seems that in prior years people whose TF status changed last minute also interviewed towards the end (and also, I don’t see that many people whose status changed last minute last year, does anyone have an approximation?)

We need a statistics major on this thread to help us out here with our probability of getting accepted when compared to data from previous years. I did email them today before I even read all of this, wondering why my documents hadn’t been verified and if there was a document or something I was missing. I assume they will email me back tomorrow and I will let you all know what they say. Probably the same email everyone else got, but I think it’s odd they keep saying our status will stay as “under review” and some are and some aren’t.

It’s true that you would think this is something they’d have a handle on, but those of us on this thread (less than 100?) are such a small sample of the overall population of applicants that maybe it doesn’t even matter, or hasn’t really been flagged as an issue to them.

God help us all.

andddd they just replied:

Dear XXX,

You can see if your documents were uploaded successfully by accessing your Transitional Funding Status page on the Applicant Center. Please note that we will not update your status until after final notification. If there is a date and link under the Submission Date, we have received your documents.

Best,

Carly Ramer
Applicant Experience Team

I’m confused cause there is a date and time under my submission date, but not a link. Anyone have a link under their submission date? The only links I have are to review or delete the document.

@emac542, I only have links to review/delete the document as well. Perhaps that is what she meant? SIGH. This wait is killing me, but it’s not last minute yet! People’s statuses only started changing since yesterday…After freaking out earlier, I’m trying to stay positive.

@emac: I was early accepted from 2013 and my applicant center file also changed back from the acceptance page to the interview page. All of my things remained in complete status though.

On TF status: sorry if I confused any of you before now. Let me see if I can clarify. If you are looking on the main page (where it’s list statuses of interviews, recommenders, placement, coursework, etc), TF will say “Complete” when you have finished submitting the original application form. This has NO bearing on acceptance.

The only place that has bearing on acceptance is on the actual TF page, where it should either say “Under Review” or “Complete” at the top. If it says “Complete” on the actual TF page, then you are IN (according to last years board, and the previous ones). If it says “Under Review” then you just have to keep waiting. If you previously had a change to “Complete” and then it switched back and forth, you are still IN. The one person that some of you have found in the 2013 board who said they had a “Complete” but was not accepted, reported the wrong “Complete” (from initial page after logging in with the interview, coursework, etc - that complete only means that your TF application was complete, not their findings - that’s on the actual TF page). Confusing but hopefully will calm someone’s nerves :)

We found no correlation regarding the order of when they look at whomever’s documents - it was all over the place. Also, as to documentation everyone had a variety of responses that seemed to have no bearing as well, from nothing at all to “N/A” to “Yes” (mine had a yes with a note written in…) TFA’s email response was very similar to last year’s response, but it didn’t change the data we found from self reporting…

Again, the only thing you all are looking for is the change on the actual TF page from “Under Review” to “Complete”. If there is no change, don’t fret - we had many people reporting changes all the way up until the acceptance announcements were made.

@toots99k…thanks for the detailed explanation of TF status changes! That DOES make me breathe a little easier, but I’m definitely impatient for something to change already.

Has anyone else seen a change yet?

Just received this email (paraphrase mine):

“Do not be concerned that yours still says “UNDER REVIEWS” while others have changed to “COMPLETE”. Your application is complete. All other should still say “UNDER REVIEW”, but this is an issue for tech [pertaining to your, @somanybanelings, application]. Tech is behind schedule and probably won’t update your application for a while.”

I’m still a little bit confused by @toots99k’s comment. Do you mean to suggest that some people had “TF Status - COMPLETE” but their “Documentation - YES/NO/NA” ?? With the latter being any combination of the three? I would have thought documentation would require verification before having status changed. Seems like you’re saying they’re separate and doesn’t matter. Sigh.

Concerning the waitlist, I don’t think its that common in 1DL unless you really narrowed your preferences to one city or something like that (as my friend did, luckily she got in). Don’t think you’ll have to worry much about that!

@toots99k very well put, It read the post in which you are talking about and you hit the nail on the head. Through several post I’ve seen confusion with the application page saying “complete”, with what people should actually be looking for is “Complete” when they actually click on the link that says >>>>View Transitional Funding
Status »(this is the complete everyone’s looking for). Yes a bit confusing but you’ve summed it up very well.

@somanybanelings what he’s saying is the initial application page will have complete if you’ve submitted your application regardless of your documents being viewed or not. However when you click on >>>>>>View Transitional Funding Status » you may have actual documents that may or may not have a yes. In essence the complete on the application page has no baring on what your actual status is…Look below

After you’ve clicked >>>>View Transitional Funding Status(you’ll see)

TRANSITIONAL FUNDING:
Transitional Funding Application Status: (It will say complete, incomplete, or UNDER REVIEW)
Your application has been (it will say approved or not) (. You will be able to see your award amount below after the notification date, should you be accepted to the corps.

@somanybanelings that’s a weird email, I know when I got an email saying my documents hadn’t been accepted my status went form under review to incomplete. Shortly after receiving notification I sent in documents and I would say less than 10 or 15 mins top my status read COMPLETE.

PS* I’ve also read post of individuals who status changed notification day, don’t count yourself out because you haven’t had a status change, and I don’t count myself in because I did have one.

@Teachtoreach - Thanks for the clarification. I understand that part but its this I’m confused about, @toots99k - “Also, as to documentation everyone had a variety of responses that seemed to have no bearing [on TF Status UNDER REVIEW/INCOMPLETE/COMPLETE] as well, from nothing at all to “N/A” to “Yes” (mine had a yes with a note written in…).” I’m not sure if I understood this part correctly. Because if this is indeed the case, then that’s very very odd.

And yeah my email is troubling to say the least. Hopefuly it’ll change to COMPLETE w/in the next few days. Just went from UNDER REVIEW > INCOMPLETE > UNDER REVIEW.

@toots99k Thank you so much for coming on here to help us out, we really appreciate the p.o.v of someone who has been through it before.

Anyways, I have an email from TFA that should really quell everyone’s nerves. I emailed them because I was confused about their link comment, and I have gotten this error page a couple times upon going to my TF that says my TF page won’t be available until I complete the online portion of my application - which I thought I did. Someone wrote back this morning (paraphrasing this time):

They said the received my documents and online application, and are not sure why it is displaying this. They said if it continues to display this error (it just did again) if they could have my password to see if it is a technical error that can be fixed. Then…
“We have not yet reviewed your application, but we should by next Tuesday (we received over 500 applications and are about half-way through).”

That, I think, is great news! Sounds like they just haven’t gotten to a lot of them yet, and we should hopefully see more changes next week. Still not sure about my odd error message, but I hope this helps everyone whose status hasn’t changed feel better!

I have also had that error message! It usually happens when I am trying to refresh the TF status page. And that is reassuring that they said they’ve only gotten through half. Thanks for all the updates!

Thanks for the information, it’s definitely a relief! @emac542 and @ elemteacher–your TF Status page looks like this “Transitional Funding Application Status: Under Review: We have not yet reviewed your application or documents”?
Also, from that e-mail, we know they at least review/process all of the applications. Looks like they’ve worked out a lot of the “pre-indicator” kinks from last year and 2012.

Lets all take a break from worrying about TF Status to dream a little. Where/what is everyone hoping to teach? What would be your dream? For me, Middle School Social Studies in Denver, or Bilingual Education in San Diego.

I would love to teach high school chemistry in Denver or Eastern NC :)

I want to teach elementary school (obviously :)) in Nashville. Or anywhere really.

Middle school in NYC =)

@emac542, thanks so much for posting that! That definitely gives me a glimmer of hope that we shouldn’t count ourselves out yet! Who knows what/if there is even a specific order TF applications get processed or if it’s simply luck of the draw.

My dream would be to teach English or social studies in any grade from late elementary school to high school! I have personal reasons to stay in New York City if possible.
