Teach For America 2014 Corps

Wow I honestly wish I would have not applied for TF although I need it. It’s really added another later of anxiety with status change. Although my status changed to complete an documents show “yes”, but I’m still worried.

Ok, I have a “complete” for TF (and 2 YES marks) but I still have an “unsubmit” button on my preferences.Though, I don’t think it was there a few days ago. I also just want people to be aware that I submitted my TF funding super early (literally, the day that it came out) so even that could have something to do with it.

Maybe there is not actual indication and we are just all way overthinking stuff as well (I know I am…)

Well at least I got the notification of the Bilingual Spanish Exam, and I passed! So, if nothing else, I know I can speak Spanish. Talk about overthinking though, I was freaking out that I didn’t get the results till so late because they didn’t even grade mine because it wouldn’t matter.

I passed the spanish exam as well! Congrats!

@elemteacher While I am mostly a lurker, I completely agree that you guys have made me feel a ton better about this whole entire process. So thank you all!

Also, question–that also may take some of the stress off the TF question: Are most of you all seniors in college or already finished and professionals? I am a senior, and I was surprised the day of my TFA interview that I was only one of two (out of 12) who was still in college. I was under the impression that most people who would apply were seniors as well, but in my sample size, I was clearly wrong.

@victoriapat: I had the opposite experience! My group of 12 were all seniors, and I am a grad student.

My TF page reads “Complete” and next to my documents, it says “YES.” My “Unsubmit” button is still there and I passed my Spanish exam!

What is this new theory about the “unsubmit” button?

I don’t think the unsubmit means anything in particular, I looked at last year’s thread and it didn’t seem to be an indication of acceptance or anything else. FWIW, mine was there this morning, disappeared for a while, reappeared for a while, and now it’s gone again

@jazzcatastrophe just checked and my unsubmit button is gone, too (although it was there an hour ago!) must be a glitch.

anyone know the correlation between phone interview vs directly to final interview and acceptance into the corps?

My unsubmit button also just disappeared for the first time. It’s been there every other time I checked until now.

Mine also just disappeared! My TF status is still under review with all of my documents unverified, gah. :(

My unsubmit button also just disappeared. I finished up my masters over the summer but I have been working full time since graduating undergrad four years ago, that included Peace Corps and my present job. But I agree that my interview was heavily skewed to an older crowd.

I had a few working professionals and graduate students in my group. I would have to say it was a split between them and college seniors like myself.

Ok so it seems like there is usually a mix and I just had a strange group. It was very intimidating to be among some professionals (some already teachers) to be honest.

@tfahopeful2014 I actually was wondering a similar thing. I personally had a phone interview, and my normal interview was actually super short (no more than 20 minutes–which to me is really alarming). Were you one of the lucky ones who just had a normal interview with no phone?

@victoriapat i, too, had a phone interview. however, my in-person interview was almost fairly long. not sure what to think about that.

i’m curious though why someone people advance directly to final interview? i wish the 2013 thread posted whether or not they had a phone interview with the rest of the template.

Ok, Friday night before Halloween and I am still on this thread. UMHMM.

My short interview is what has really worried me throughout this whole entire process. I felt as if we just sat down, did the role play, asked one or two follow up questions, and then BAM done.

I, too, wonder what the qualifications of skipping the phone interview are. I feel like a person who skips the phone interview probably is more likely to get in just because that would imply that TFA has a huge interest in them, but that is completely unfounded in any evidence and I am completely just speculating.

Also, congrats on the people who passed the Spanish exam!! :)

I would like to teach in Nashville but I would be willing to relocate also. Does anyone know how selective TFA will be this year? It seems to me there is no cookie cutter TFA CM they look for during hiring. I know during my final interview most of the people were older professionals or newly out of school looking for work. Only two people I believe were seniors in college.

It looks like a lot of people now have a TF status of complete…which is making me worried. Who here does? Tinita, Senorita, Teachtoreach, who else? I know I’m missing a bunch. I hope the rest of ours’ change next week!!!

Sorry for being a creep, but like I’ve said, I like numbers… so I’ve been trying to keep track. Of 27 people that have posted, I believe 7 have seen it go Complete, though some went back under review. And 4 of us have said that our documents have been verified. I’m sure some people haven’t posted though.

And that 27 is just counting people that have posted who are waiting for the 31st deadline, not the 3DL or early acceptances.

@elemteacher, I’ve been doing the same thing. Maybe a little creepy but you can’t control your neuroses right?
