Oh man, some days I truly feel as if I opened Pandora’s box by discovering this thread. Instead of just randomly counting off the days and crossing our fingers until the 31st, we have all been stressing and pulling our hair over TF status.

Nevertheless, I love you all and our neurotic tendencies.

@gmpink3 They asked for more documents on the 24th, and I changed to incomplete then. Once verified, they changed me back to under review the same day.

@elemteacher Yess that’s exactly how I’ve been feeling! We’re definitely the odd ones out. I feel as though I’m in some sort of limbo between feeling excited my documents have been verified and terrfied that my status hasn’t changed to complete. In short, I really don’t know how to feel! Lol…sigh.

@almostapostgrad…I think Pandora’s box is definitely an apt description of all the info and theories on this thread lol ;)

So I havent been on since I was going through my final interview and wanted to give everyone an update. I feel my interview went pretty well, my interviewer was extremely nice! I would say my personal interview was no longer than 20 minutes. I left the interview feeling awesome, but after replaying everything a million times, I now think my interview was a disaster.

My TF still reads under review although, two of my documents read YES and one reads N/A. I am not sure what the N/A means because I did submit that particular document. If anyone could tell me, that would be great :). I am not sure when they verified my documents because I told myself I would not check my account for a few days, and when I finally did yesterday I noticed the small change.

I want to say I am rooting for each and every one of you, and I am excited for the ones who did see a complete. For the ones in my situation and the ones who have not seen a change at all, keep your head up, stay positive, and maintain faith! I told myself no matter what the outcome is, I will still get involved in such a wonderful mission!!

Hey all I am new to the posts! I am equally nervous about Thursday! And my status for TF hasn’t changed at all. It simply says under review. Good luck everyone! Can’t wait to hear the great news! Almost there

@Jessy13 Thanks for the update! So yours could of been complete and switched back to under review yesterday (a lot of people had this happen) since you haven’t checked it for awhile, right? Don’t worry about the n/a, I had this happen and they said it is in fact verified, but the n/a will remain (sounded like a glitch type thing).

@Teachthechildren Welcome! We’re happy to have a fellow obsesser on the thread! Where are you from?

It’s awesome that this thread is experiencing the same explosion in replies a couple of days before notification day like last year’s thread. I have calmed down now and just have accepted that it is out of my hands. But I’m looking at plan B options and some look really interesting. If you guys are thinking about becoming an educator for the long term, then look into KIPP. They have some pretty awesome teacher residency programs that pair you up with a mentor teacher for an entire year in addition to a summer bootcamp. So if you guys are worried that the 5 week training program would not be enough for you, I would look into KIPP fellowships. Sometimes, it’s better to think about the kids rather than your personal growth. Just a suggestion!

@emac542 I actually checked really early yesterday and it still said under review, so my guess is that it never changed to complete. So that does worry me, but oh well. Just a few more days

I’m finding some ray of hope in the email sent to explorer17 last week:
"We have some glitches that our tech department are working on, but they will not be fixed for a couple weeks (so they won’t be fixed before Notification Day).

All applications should remain “Under Review” until Notification Day. Apparently some are changing to “Complete” while others are remaining listed as "Under Review. If your status does not change to “Complete”, that does not mean we have not reviewed your application.

We have been having trouble with the verification of documents on the applicant’s end. Documents marked as verified always pull through to the applicant’s end, but verified documents don’t."

Hopefully this is indicative of whats happening this year as opposed to last year. But I know I’m reaching for straws! Lets have some hope!

To add on to what @rolemodel32 is saying, I am also looking at plan B options. There is one called ASUL (actually the advertisement appears to the left on this page–at least for me) and its also a residency program that pays you to work with another teacher and do an intensive one-year training/teaching fusion. The early deadline is November 1st, so if I do not get in here, I will be working all Halloween night to do that (I suppose I could start earlier, but I thought that would jinx it!).

Another option out there is the TNTP fellowships, they operate much in the same way as TFA, with an intensive summer training program before you start to teach.

I definitely agree with @Teachtoreach in that it seems counterproductive to verify everyone’s documents who apply for TF, especially with such an extremely small window of time to complete the award packages. They indicated having received over 500 applications (although they didn’t indicate where they received them from, the decision committee or from the applicants themselves). But using last year’s numbers, if 50,000 total apply, that’s 10,000 per deadline and it’s been suggested that 50% move to the Final Interview. So for 1DL and 2DL that would mean 10,000 made it to the Final Interview? Even if only half applied for TF, that would still mean they would be verifying 5,000 applicant documents, but from the earlier e-mail there was only over 500.

Unless they missed another “0” on 500, I would say that having your documents verified is a good sign regardless of TF Status, especially considering the reported glitches.

I still have yet to have a change in my TF status but I am not sure if it is because I did not have to take out any loans for school. I used my parent’s tax returns. Is anyone else still “under review”?
